just liu america has to live within its means. acted like deficit didn't matter. a lot of folks promised a free lunch. i think everybody needs to recall we had a surplus back in 2000. 11 short years ago, but then we cut taxes for everybody including millionaires and billionaires, fought two wars, created a new and expensive prescription drug program and we didn't pay for any of it. as the saying goes there is no such thing as a free lunch. we were left with a big deficit, as i was coming into office, and then the worst recession since the great depression. that made it worse because of a recession to things happen, the federal government helps those states, localities to prevent teacher layoffs, firefighters and police officers from being laid off. all of that cost money. fe requires more money to provide additional help to people who love lost their jobs, or in danger to losing their homes if your federal government put more money out, because of the recession it is taking less money in, in tax revenues. that grew the deficit fur
