we have used a system of place types that were developed for mtc a few years ago for the priority areas identified in the agency. every one of the jurisdictions in the region have the priority for the area or a new growth opportunity area was asked to identify a place type. it serves neighborhoods in terms of density, uses, and it correlates the priority growth areas submitted by jurisdictions. each one of them has one of these plays steps. again, san francisco did not choose to submit a new growth area. there were 70 other one submitted by other jurisdictions in the region. a couple of examples -- the googleplex was submitted as a place that would no longer just be an office park. here is a map of san francisco you have this in your packet. it shows the range of place? . the priority areas encompassed most of the neighborhood plans. they range from the regional center, which is downtown, the geary neighborhood. other areas are downtown oakland and san jose. these are more mid-range centers of economic activity, and are generally geared to providing a lot of housing in proximity to tran

we received $750,000 in a grand award from mtc. it was intended to help us develop a management process. we finally put out an rfq for consulting services qualifications and we got a may 10 deadline for those seven bills to be coming into the authorities. we are looking to get underway. -- submittals to be coming into the authorities. we also have the planning grant from caltrans the last couple of years for hunters point bayview. we are looking forward to working with commissioner cohen and their reorganizations in the area to try to shape the types of services and improvements that are likely to happen out of that follow-up. these are things like shuttles, bands, an organization of volunteer drivers. this is something we have identified in the study as gaps in the mobility of residents in the area. it is a large area and often the typography makes it difficult for people to access transit. i am looking forward to seeing an effort move forward. jesse is the point person on that. contact information is included in the report. the v

earlier about a.b. 57 and the legislation under consideration in sacramento to add two seats to the mtc, i know the board of supervisors has taken a position. supervisor wiener introduced a resolution on that. we want to continue to be active in advocating against that piece of legislation. i do not know what is coming up in sacramento, if there is a hearing that is coming up, but i want to make sure that we are as engaged in sharing our concerns with the legislature about the significance of that legislation. >> thank you. it has been our practice to communicate positions to the legislature immediately after they are taken. that is what we did with a.b. 57, to the chairs of both transportation committees in the assembly and the senate, to our entire legislative delegation. and through our legislative advocates, to all committees, with the legislation is heard -- where the legislation is heard. so far, we have had a legislative advocate participate and give testimony at the meeting that happened last week on monday. the committee actually approved the bill on a 13-0 vote, which i think

there are changes in love heard recently from the mtc, so we can mitigate some of the 19th avenue. i do not think we will be able to do that without. i want to think one man who has worked a long time on this issue. i would like you to think ahead to 30 years from now about what this area will be like. some programs will have their facts korea and the carbon tax will have its effects. wages have actually gone down in the last 10 years. i think it would be farsighted to start restricting the parking at parkmerced early on, and i realize a lot of this is not part of the eir. i hope you will pass this on the merits of the eir alone and not on the others. the developer, as you know, has already had to reorganize ones. if this it's dragged out, the cost is going to go into the process. there are changes that need to be made. beginning six years ago, some of us went to mtc. senior action network was on the regional committee worked with staff to look over the reform. 555 is controlled by the chp. we came up with startling facts. there were many unused data fields. we started suggesting things regarding the pedestrian and burn it. visibility, stop signs, crosswalks, things that should be included. these were submitted to chp and nothing has happened since. until that is changed, it is much harder for local jurisdiction to have a consistency in reporting data through the system statewide. here is where san francisco can assist. it is lonely for the few of us trying to but the chp. i will suggest that that is something that can be a priority to a different city agencies. but i will suggest also that what supervisor mirkarimi talked of this worthwhile, pushing the major project. look of the demographics of the population.
