we have used a system of place types that were developed for mtc a few years ago for the priority areas identified in the agency. every one of the jurisdictions in the region have the priority for the area or a new growth opportunity area was asked to identify a place type. it serves neighborhoods in terms of density, uses, and it correlates the priority growth areas submitted by jurisdictions. each one of them has one of these plays steps. again, san francisco did not choose to submit a new growth area. there were 70 other one submitted by other jurisdictions in the region. a couple of examples -- the googleplex was submitted as a place that would no longer just be an office park. here is a map of san francisco you have this in your packet. it shows the range of place? . the priority areas encompassed most of the neighborhood plans. they range from the regional center, which is downtown, the geary neighborhood. other areas are downtown oakland and san jose. these are more mid-range centers of economic activity, and are generally geared to providing a lot of housing in proximity to tran

we received $750,000 in a grand award from mtc. it was intended to help us develop a management process. we finally put out an rfq for consulting services qualifications and we got a may 10 deadline for those seven bills to be coming into the authorities. we are looking to get underway. -- submittals to be coming into the authorities. we also have the planning grant from caltrans the last couple of years for hunters point bayview. we are looking forward to working with commissioner cohen and their reorganizations in the area to try to shape the types of services and improvements that are likely to happen out of that follow-up. these are things like shuttles, bands, an organization of volunteer drivers. this is something we have identified in the study as gaps in the mobility of residents in the area. it is a large area and often the typography makes it difficult for people to access transit. i am looking forward to seeing an effort move forward. jesse is the point person on that. contact information is included in the report. the v

it is a resolution that i believe will result in supervisor capmos and i serving on the mtc together. the mayor has appointed me to that seat and so i know it will be coming up at the rules committee soon and supervisor campos has my full support for appointment by the board. i think the mayor for reaching out to the board to resolve what was proving to be an impasse. i think it speaks volumes to the mayor's leadership and desire to work productively with the board. i just wanted to announce that. president chiu: in reaction to what supervisor weiner just said, i am glad we were able to avoid that potential dogfight. i look forward to our commissioners representing us. i know their leadership will be greatly appreciated in the coming years. i do have one in memoriam, for a 16-year-old sophomore from thurgood marshall high school. he was brutally taken away from his family. he was someone who was much loved by his friends and by his teachers. today, students at thurgood marshall high school are signing an 8 foot banner memorializing him. the banner reads, "rest in peace. we will miss y
