some of the murals suffered wear damage. through the arts commission and various other sources to restore the murals. they don't have that connection or thread or maintain that connection to your history and your past, what do you have? that's one of the major elements of what makes quality of life in san francisco so incredible. when people ask me, and they ask me all the time, how do you get to coit tower, i say you walk. that's the best way to experience the gradual elevation coming up above the hustle and bustle of the city and finding this sort of oasis, if you will, at the top of the hill. when i walk through this park, i look at these brick walls and this lawn, i look at the railings around the murals. i look at the restoration and i think, yeah, i had something to do with that. learning the lessons, thank you, landmarks meet landmarks. the current situation at pioneer park and coit tower is really based in public and private partnership. it was the citizens who came together to buy the land to keep it from being deve

it features many of -- minerals -- murals. it is a location for recognizing urban and graffiti esthetics of san francisco. it is in the mission area. it is also the host of an annual block party that celebrates the newest miro contributions. that is an example of work that is done with permission. the idea is that we will identify property owners who will offer their walls to the street smart program and allow us to link them up with urban artists and the youth team to create their works on those walls. the goal is to channel creative energy that is out there and to channel it into a permission- based urban arts program that will get recognition to the young people. that is a fundamental element of motivation for attackers -- taggers. the second element of our approach is the where art lives school curriculum. next september, a number of elementary schools will be implementing a new curriculum that is designed to reach students in grades 4 through 6. the schools will be selected in areas where there is a concentration of taggi

it is a huge mural of incredible works. >> the san francisco civic arts collection has been in existence since the turn of the century. it consists of everything from monument to golden gate park to market street, other works in the collection, from the wpa era, the quite tower, the works from the george washington high school. we have the contemporary education, where they depict some of the vocational arts that were taught at george washington high school. what is interesting is the artist's and corp. of some of the -- incorporation of some of the architectural elements. they used the speaker from the p a system as part of the design. on the opposite side of the library, we have a large fresco which depicts the academic subjects that were taught at the time. it serves as a foil to the other fresco in the library, we have academic subjects on one side, vocational subjects on the other, and result is the concept of a well-rounded education. additionally, what we plan to do is the academy of hospitality and tourism will be part of, so the students can share with other students, faculty, t
