first, rita lindall, rita and i are both in the same cohort as the music program at uc berkley and we've been saying for 4 years, we need to play music. so we finally made it happen. so, rita lindall, and then masuro koga. mas and i have been playing together for a very long time, so much so that we wore the same shirt without having to talk to each other about it. mas is in high demand both as a teacher and as a session side man, having played with everybody from anthony brown's asian american orchestra to wane wallace's newest cd. who haven't you played with lately? yeah, he's played with everybody. you can find mas on a lot of different cd's from the local jazz community. this song we're going to do is an air called the brown-haired girl. when i was recording, when i was fortunate to be able to record bridge across the blue, i was telling them i got this air, i got it off the chieftan's album, i'm going to do it on the electric base. he looked at me and said, you're nuts. people are going to go crazy but if you can do it, i'll help you. he gave me this book of airs and went, figure it

i just got a call from someone from berkley with millions of pages of copies of plans of san francisco buildings. millions of sheets that somehow got rescued in the 1906 earthquake. part of what we're doing in the building and planning department is how to assemble the records and your about to see they're not in one place. the biggest lesson you'll find is your challenge is to go to all of these agencies and get a set of records for your building. right now your assembling a program to do a single records management program to dial up on the computer your address and get the historical data. right now we can do that for a very short timeframe so if you go to,sfgov dot org. the cities website you can go to the beldings department link, hi alice, and go to permits. it says check on-line permit status and it's a permit tracking function and you can enter your address and i think all the permits since the mid 80's now will come up with their disposition and what happens, who reviewed them and all of that. that's the first step. that's as we were rushing headlong into the 90's and we're tr

in berkley, we actually have high and low.we put one down around a foot plate which where somebody using a wheelchair who doesn't have any kind of arm function or can't reach that high, they can hit it with a foot plate. we are finding that more people prefer to kick them than use foot plates on them. people that play soccer, especially during world cup they were very popular things to kick. delivery people use them a lot of time to kick. it's a lot easier than using the buttons in the elevator. same idea as this, just a larger button you can hit to open the door. >> they are very well received in san francisco. people actually -- we consider this to be equivalent to full access. this is not like an alternate, you need special approval, this actually provides us with what we think is almost the same as full access. >> they are also really useful if you have a really heavy door. sometimes in these really beautiful buildings you have steel and glass and the pressure required to operate the door is more than 20 pounds. a power do
