as you know, there are five works of art for the transit center. four of the artists -- that artwork had been presented to our cac. we had met with staff regarding it over the last 16 months. we feel those four works of art sit well and fit within the goals that the directors have said already, of artwork on a both small and large scale, that will focus on particular areas of the center, and will enhance the experience of everyone passing through its doors. however, the work of the fifth artist, timothy hawkinson, who was selected to design a landmark entry sculpture at the northeast corner of the center had not been before our cac until april 12 of this year. during staff presentation, we were told the board of directors had already commissioned this work with the advice and consent of the severed his go arts commission. we take issue with the vetting process that was used in selecting this artist and more importantly, the choice of the sculpture itself. as a cac, we were created by you to provide community-wide input, review and support the vario

traffic management center is at 25 van ness. as john mentioned, in 2009, we did a study for what side would be most appropriate. we had a previous study in 2000 and that was done by booz allen hamilton under the offices of the river project which because of an operational content document which established key principles for our central control program. a couple of the key principle were one that we should unify our various functions into one location so that these activities could be co located and coordinated on a 24/7 basis. one of the other key concepts was that we should have both a primary and secondary -- in a post-9/11 environment, there are a lot of issues that have evolved around redundancy and security. there were a number of other objectives including establishing maintenance desks. additional functions that central control to facilitate the smooth operation and integration of delivering the transportation services. some of those have been incorporated into our planning as well. so a side that was identified as our p

she was here to represent the entrepreneurship centers. she left her comments with me. so i'm going to give you a few highlights from renaissance as well. she had just come back from the a.e.o. conference in d.c. she had a couple of interesting statistics about micro enterprise which are businesss that have zero to four employees. if 1-3 hired a singlelele employee the u.s. would be at full employment. and also that the median net worth of business owners is two anded a half times that of nonbusiness honers and the statistics are more stunning in terms of the minority communities where it's for african-american business owners they are earning 10 times more than african-americans who do not own businesses. so it's very critical in helping them become business owners. renaissance was established in 1985. they have three sights. one in the bay view, one in the south of market, one in the mid peninsula. they serve 1,600 annually. and they core is training, workshops, a business incubator, capital access to technology and graduate services. on behalf of both urban solutions
