mr. snyder to ask about the transportation plan. there will be an additional number of residential units and commercial space. what is the transportation plan? has that been developed by the planning department? >> i guess i would describe the transportation plan in three components. the big move for transportation is that we are providing a new street grid to allow a greater sense of permeability through from the hollywood in from visitation valley, through the neighborhood so you are not faced with a parking lot. as a part of the candlestick improvements, which this project is not immediately responsible for, a big component of what they are doing is bus rapid transit. that facility is being accommodated by our zoning to assure there is not room -- to assure there is enough room for rapid transit. as this project has evolved over the years, a shuttle program that is part of their transportation management -- part of their medications -- would be maintained and increased as more development comes on line. chairperson mar: without o

mr. speaker, a leader's members of the senate and house of representatives, governor snyder, dr. r, mr. japanese ambassador, ladies and gentleman, i extend congratulations to the sculptor. your statue is wonderful. mother and i are so grateful to you and special gratitude also goes to gov. snyder and the people of michigan and to the u.s. house of representatives and the senate for making this remarkable tribute to that a true reality. the rotunda has been a part of the ford family for decades. as a young girl, i accompanied my dad to the capital on weekends and happily played hide and seek in this very room and in statutory hall. four hours. in 2006, i returned under very different circumstances for dad's state funeral. when the last of our family gathered in the rotunda, it was a time to remember and a time to say goodbye. those were very difficult days. but we drew strength and comfort from many kindnesses of the house and senate members and from both sides of the aisle. in particular, we were strengthened by the unprecedented attribute the house and senate paid to dad. i remem

mr. speaker. i ask unanimous consent to revise and extend my remarks. for the past 12 years john snyder, bedford, oregon, has been my district director. he's decided to move on now to pursue other opportunities and other careers. but to me he was more than just district director. he was my mentor, he was my partner, and always my friend. john snyder's a terrific man, great man of the oregon ducks, and he served three members of congress in this district as district director. including my most recent predecessor, robert f. smith. he was born and raised there and his roots run deep in the valley. he is a guy's guy. he's a terrific man. my current district office actually sits adjacent to the former snyder dairy which his family had which is down part of the downtown. john and his wife currently live in the valley and his daughter lives in grants pass. john graduated from st. mary's high school and was its student body president. he graduated from the university of oregon and is a rabid oregon ducks fan. my wife and i had the opportunity to be with john and his wife at the championship gam
