there are hundreds gathered in times square right now around the heart of times square, 44th street. and then there are probably several hundred down at ground zero celebrating. people are chanting usa. they are carrying american flags. they brought them to times square to ground zero. and people are in a very jubilant mood. i was actually in times square about an hour before the news officially broke. people were hearing rumors, checking their smart phones, getting the twitter feeds and the facebook update. people were confuseded in the beginning. they weren't sure whether to believe it. some overseas tourists weren't sure what this meant to the two wars happening overseas in iraq and afghanistan. and a lot of people were also worried about retribution. what could this mean for al qaeda. what could this mean for other terrorist forces for islamists. but in general the feeling is jubilation in new york city. people are happy. i've asked a lot of 9/11 survivors, 9/11 first responders if this puts a period at the end of the 9/11 story. and almost everyone tells me it does not. it is so
