he parred his first four holes before making birdie on no. 1 not a good day for phil mickelson with abogey after a 11 today. milkson 21 strokes back. some other good players battling for second player, lee westwood shot 65, but he is a distant 9 strokes back. same for jason day. day finished his 65, but tied with westwood. at this point mcilroy 13 under par for the tournament, tieing a record he set yesterday. at 14, this approach puts mcilroy within birdie range. no player in 111 years of the open had ever been 14 under par. y.e. yang was mcilroy's playing partner and losing ground. yang with a birdie at 14 would shoot a 70, but mcilroy finished with a 68. he will have an eight-stroke cushion to take into tomorrow's final round, in his attempt to win his first major, something mcilroy couldn't do with a four- stroke lead in the masters in april. today he felt the support of the crowd. >> it was incredible. i mean, the support that our group got out there was fantastic. >> let's go! >> i am having a little bit of attitude and killer instinct and i think that is what you need on the go
