this three-day search is being speer headed by family and friends of the missing nursing student. despite heyward police reclassifying the case as a homicide, they refuse to give up hope that she is alive. she was last seen at kaiser hospital. volunteers have been given instructions on what to look for and how not to disturb evidence should anything suspicious be found. klass kids, founded by marc klass has come to help organize a search being conducted in various parts of the east bay, including the heyward foothills. places where police say le's phone was pinging on cell phone towers before the cell phone was lost. even though the ground search will be over tomorrow, they continue to look for other areas to search. and to keep the efforts to find le going. >> we have this training now, we can get other people in the community later on and say, we're going to do another search again, and here's why we want to do it. here's what leads us to this area. we're planning and it's going to happen. if we don't get her back tomorrow, we'll be trying the next day and the next day. we're ke

this is day two of a three-day search, speer headed by michelle leigh's family and friends who refuse to give up hope she will be found alive. volunteers are offering their time this weekend to take part in this search. heyward was last seen on may 27th, where she was doing clinical rotation as part of her course work. police have remained tight lipped about any evidence they have. leigh's family says until they're given conclusive proof she's dead, they will continue searching. the search is going on in areas where leigh's phone was pinging on cell towers before that signal was lost. >> there's an awful lot of geography out there, she's a small little lady, and there's a lot of areas that need to be looked at. so we're trying to do that as systematically as we can. without this kind of support, we wouldn't be able to do what we are doing. >> that was marc klass, the father of polly klass who was kidnapped and murdered in 1993. his foundation klass kids is helping with the search. the search will continue tomorrow. a reward of $65,000 is being offered to anyone with information on le'
