i don't have the specifics of that particular concern with dhs.e had some briefings about this question. if i may say, i do believe that given my role at the department of justice, and my role now, that i have both an understanding, actually a deep understanding of the rules that apply to protect civil liberties and privacy of u.s. persons but i also i think have a very strong view and a record of finding the appropriate ways to overcome legal, sometimes perceived legal as well as a policy barriers to sharing information. i don't believe that there is a strong basis for, as a policy matter, not allowing information to be shared when that information is necessary to protect the mega-people and if i am honored to be confirmed it will absolutely be my commitment to find a way to overcome expressed concerns about sharing information when that information is necessary to subport and ctc's mission and that is to prevent another terrorist attack. so certainly you have my commitment to look very heart of that question. >> as you and i discussed in my offi

when it was time to go back to dhs -- i decided i needed to be more engaged in the public debate. there's some things you cannot do as a public servant that you can do on the outside. that's how i ended up at the immigration policy center. we're all about trying to provide the kind of facts and information that helped shape the debate in the way that it supports the idea that immigration is important to america. we are part of the american immigration council, formally known as the american immigration law foundation. we work very closely with lawyers, including one of the sponsors of tonight's events. when i talk about compehensive immigration reform to people, i often like to move away from the movie analogy to the game analogy. think about it as a rubik's cube. if you get one side right, it probably means the other sites are screwed up. you cannot think about immigration as the one issue. there are so many that interact with each other. we often focus on legalization because it's such an overwhelming issue in many ways. we have so many people that are here without the appropria

some recommendations were made in the latest dhs study mirrored those that we've made in our may 2010 report. in the summit is still an open question whether the behavior detection principles can be successfully applied on a large scale counterterrorism purposes and airport environments. i would now like to discuss some of the key findings from the 2009 report on airport perimeter security. in terms of progress, we noted dirty yes steps tsa had made including implementing the random worker screening program, expanding the requirements for the name based background checks and that developing new biometric security standards. however, we found that tsa had not yet time completed a comprehensive risk assessment as called for by dhs. they subsequently completed such an assessment in july, 2010. however, the dated assessment did not include an assessment of the so-called inside threat which tsa views as a significant threat. the risks posed by the inside threats will be included in the next update due later this year. we also recommended that tsa consider making greater use of the joint va
