the years that it was up here, it gave the name telegraph hill. it survived although the structure is long gone. come to the 1870's and the city has growed up remarkably. it's fueled with money from the nevada silver mines and the gold rush. it's trying to be the paris of the west. now the beach is the suburbs, the we will their people lived on the bottom and the poorest people lived on the top because it was very hard getting to the top of telegraph hill. it was mostly lean-to sharks and bits of pieces of houses up here in the beginning. and a group of 20 businessmen decided that it would be better if the top of the hill remained for the public. so they put their money down and they bought four lots at the top of the hill and they gave them to the city. lily hitchcock coit died without leaving a specific use for her bequest. she left a third of her estate for the beautify indication of the city. arthur brown, noted architect in the city, wanted for a while to build a tower. he had become very interested in persian towers. it was the 1930's. it wa

it is throughout the city, most notably twin peaks, edge hill, telegraph hill. every once in awhile, you hear about those who make the news with a rock fall or landslide. usually occur in the telegraph and twin peaks. . above the rock are the soil deposits. the most common is dune sand. it is nothing but rocks that has been worn down from the sierras and deposited along the beaches. the wind blew that dune sand over most of the city. it is this mustard color. on the avenues, it is very thick. it can be up to 400 feet thick. as you moved south across slope boulevard, that is the tolar foundation. it was named after the first to score every in -- after the first discovery in the cemetery. the man was out there and noticed this material was unique. he started mapping it. he traced it all the way up to slope. the dune sand generally has the consistency of sugar. it is fine grained sand. it is usually loose. it is poorly graded. the colma foundation can be the same stand but it is denser. it may have to play in it. it is much stronger. it is an excellent supporting m

as you know, executive park is in the hill of bayview hill. nowhere close to visitation valley. but what occurred was that lines were drawn from visitation valley over six lanes of highway of bay shore, through the community of little hollywood, under the freeway of highway 101, to claim that executive park was a part of the visitation valley. biggest lie in town. biggest blight in town. then it was proposed that the developers -- i have been on that committee since its inception. those of us that where there never asked the developers for anything because they had to do all the infrastructure in order to get that project going and done. but here comes someone later say if they can get money out of the developers, and developers had to agree because they wanted to do their program, do the project. we asked them not to give nothing to visitation valley, but no. if they did not do it, they could not to the project, and that was unfair to the sponsors there. i do not like to see underhanded stuff going on, and when you asked about the benefits, i have been sitting there over 30 yea

in present hill and the further section is taylor and plent hill road. a major intersection there. news chopper 2 just got over the scene. this is the police activity that is still there. that mess on the roadway in the left side of the screen that is probably one of the -- where the impact happened. police officers began this chase in that city and we don't know why the vehicle was chased but we know it was some sort of drug crime related charges. officers found themselves in plent hill and this is where the chase ended. the car crashed into at least four other vehicles. i just spoke with john sasaki, he was at the scene, he said there were multiple injuries a number of ambulances. from what he could see none of the injuries appeared to be major. he said the intersection was shut down but it appears that changed in the past few minutes. this is taylor and plent hill road. this is the end of a highpede police chase. there are a lot of police vehicles still there. i would probably say avoid this area if you could. we will bring you more information as we get it. >>> to the jaycee du
