johntue caldwell was in a car at this tennis son road gas station at 5:30 p.m. yesterday when someone shot him. johnson is his uncle. >> if anybody knows what happened to johntue that they step to the plate, come forward and they give that information because a wrong here has been committed, a young man has been innocently shot while sitting in his vehicle waiting on his friend to meet him. >> reporter: caldwell was life long friends with grant who was shot to death by a bart police officer on new year's morning 2009. he was with grant on the fruitvale station platform that morning and had filed a $5 million federal civil rights lawsuit against bart. people stopped by to sign a memorial t-shirt for caldwell today. >> he was a funny guy. couple of times i met him, he was nice. he wasn't like any of that gang stuff or anything. >> reporter: caldwell was so close to grant that he was godfather to his now 7-year-old daughter tatiana. >> he was in school. he was being a father. he was loving his children, spending time with the family. he was walking with a smile on
