"today in the east bay's" christie smith is live in richmond with what city leaders plan to do. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. certainly teams like richmond police have their hands full with a series of street level shootings, just last night a man and a woman both in their 30s were found shot dead outside an apartment complex. another woman was also shot. she was taken to the hospital. this was around 10:15 on bissel avenue. only 30 minutes earlier police were called to yet another shooting on gertrude avenue where police found a man in his 20s also shot. he's expected to survive and police are looking for a possible connection there. this comes on the heels of a shoot-out in richmond in a home there days before that resulted in three deaths near triangle court, residents there understandably concerned about safety and fear of backlash on the street. now, this is an area of public housing and only so much in terms of budget money that goes around. some residents saying they would like private security but apparently that is not in the budget. the city, though, p

the shootings happened around the same time, they all happened within the richmond city limits or north richmond, that is all the connections that police have to any of these shootings. behind me investigators are inside. the shootings started before 9:00 last night. police say a man was hanging out with friends at south 39th street. this is not the scene. that man was shot. he survived but two others would not. this is the 3600 block of mcdonald, police say a man died there. he and another man was in the car and the second man is recovering in the hospital. this happened after 9:00. while that was was being investigated they were in the middle of another homicide investigation. like the one at mcdonald this von was victim was found inside a car. there is evidence suggesting another victim in this shooting but so far that victim has not come forward. finally deputies found two people one person died, the other is still alive. the injuries are believed to be life-threatening, there was some confusion earlier about whether he was dead or alive. we spoke to them and they said he is alive.

especially pet supply store leaders, but also many other small business folks in the richmond district and throughout thenm+ citying to create a vibrant neighborhood, revitalize the neighborhood in the richmond district, enhance the diverse fabric of the richmond district which is what i think brings a lot of people into the district from newcomers and old-timers and we want to maintain the unique character of our neighborhood. we don't want it to be a suburban strip mall of a neighborhood but a diverse, beautiful neighborhood that brings people from all over the world and also the legislation is not targeting any one company, it's really about supporting a more livable community and we're working together with many groups to do that. i wanted to first thank my staffer myrna melgar for putting so many hours and taking the lead on this legislation, meeting with so many people and the work of anne marie rogers and many of the planning staff and tom radulivic from livable city, as well, they offered many insights and the small business commission, a couple of nights ago, that gave us unanimous support, as well. the

richmond police have a person in custody of interest in the shooting death of three men. their bodies were found late this afternoon in a home on triangle court in the city's iron triangle neighborhood. richmond where police aren't saying much about what happened. > that's right. this iron triangle neighborhood is still an active crime scene. three men shot to death in this house here behind me. police released the names of two of the victims. 36-year-old michael anderson who lived in this house and 19- year-old donte of oakland. police say they called off the search for any other suspect, but that's a little comfort to richmond residents who are facing another weekend of violence. this boy in the gray hat mourns the loss of his brother, one of three young men killed at this public housing complex early this evening. >> many thought the one suspect shot and killed everybody and that's not the case. >> captain mark of the richmond police department was tight lipped on details of this is an open case, they have one person of interest who is in custody and who does not have a history of violence. >> what we are saying is we have with the three people here, we

situation of about 15 years ago when i was president of a neighborhood association in the richmond district, and the city and catholic charities were attempting to take over a former -- what should i say? -- rest home is the best way to put it on geary boulevard near 27th avenue. to make it short, 22 meetings later, four of which the police had to be called because of the raucousness of the meetings, opposition by all of the immediate residents and all of the relators in the area -- it passed. it started. it was for family homeless one-year minimum residency, which basically was women and children, with services. and i was on the advisory group for about a year, and we actually disbanded. there was no need for us anymore. it's still out there. no one even knows it exists. it blends with the neighborhood. and the neighborhood has done what it should. it put this type of thing in a good san francisco middle-class neighborhood. i've had the pleasure of raising kids and grandkids, and they live up to your expectations. and i hope that the people in the marina and the cal hollow areas will have expectations o
