a shooting rampage this morning in carson city, nevada.t's left four people dead including the suspected gunman. joe vazquez is there with the very latest for us tonight. joe. >> reporter: allen, there is a heavy police presence here in this strip mall parking lot in carson city. you have everything from local and state police to national guard, fbi, atf and they are tracking down the details of this shooting. police say the gunman drove up in a blue minivan with three weapons two assault rifles and a pistol. just after 9 a.m., he took out one of those rifles an ak-47 and opened fire. most of the victims were inside the ihop. he walked to the backfiring round after round of a uniformed group of national guardsmen wounding 5 and killing 2 of those. he shot at people outside and at a nearby barbecue. the restaurant owner picks up the story. >> stupidly asked my son to lock the door and went to lock the door and saw him and started shooting at us. >> reporter: police have identified the gunman as eduardo sencion, 32 years old. they say he sho

our reporter will attended briefing in carson city and joins us now on the phone. any idea what kind of information we may learn from this briefing? >> reporter: well, tori, i spoke with the sheriff late last night and he tells me he's expecting to release the names of all of the those victims. it was just last night on the 10:00 news that we told you about the third national guard member passing away at the hospital. that's brought the total to four victims dead. it's hard to. it was 24 hours ago that the gunman opened fire in the ihop. coming into the sheriff's office is -- you look through town and all of the flags are at half staff. i just spoke with a member of the national guard who says that the governor has ordered the flags to be flown at half- staff because of this insdy anyone until noon on friday. this is -- of this incident until noon on friday. this is something you are definitely hearing of son on -- on streets and it -- on the streets and it came as such a shock because this community is so small. >> are there any motives being discussed? >> reporte

a candlelight vigil was held in carson city for the victims. a 33-year-old man got out of a car yesterday morning and begin shooting with an ak-47 assault rifle. he shot a woman and wednesday went into the restaurant heading to a group of five uniformed national guard members and shot each one of them. three of them died and civilian was killed. gunman later died in the hospital from a gunshot wound. his brother has made a public apology. >> he wasn't targeting the national guard people? >> very sawyer. >> you have no indication he was going to do this? >> no. >> the family told police he had a history of mental problems. he said they will be looking into that. >>> bart protests has cost the transit agency $300,000. they report that most of money went to pay overtime to bart police officers. demonstrations begin after bart police shot and killed a homeless man on a platform on july 3rd. demonstrators are also angry that bart shut off cellphone service to prevent another protest. another rally is planned for tomorrow at the powell street station
