good morning i'm cheryl jennings. >> and i'm kristen sze. live team coverage. terry mcsweeney is at the port of oakland.çç >> katie marzullo is waiting for an update from police and city s. -- city officials. >> we begin with amy hollyfield where there's a lot of cleaning up. >> reporter: they are making progress. this wall was covered with graffiti so were the windows after several attempts of scrubbing, most of it is gone. it is difficult to get it entirely off-the-wall. some of the protesters say they tried to prevent this from happening. but the activists who wanted to cause damage couldn't be stopped. oakland police said they made the decision to fire tear gas and bean bags on this crowd after people threw bottles, roman candles and lit flares at officers. protesters shattered windows up and down broadway and sprayed graffiti on almost every building on the street. the trouble started around midnight when protesters decided to occupy an abandoned building. police cleared the building two hours later. it wasn't until a little after 4 a.m. until the situat
