drew levinson has more. >> reporter: students rallied outside the home of penn state football coach joe paterno tuesday night. they greeted him like a rock star. >> it's hard for me to tell you how much this means to me. i -- i -- you guys, i've lived for this place, i've lived for people like you guys and girls. >> reporter: despite the admiration of students, the 84-year-old coach is battling to hold on to his job. >> i hate to see joe go like this with the. >> reporter: paterno has taken eat heat for not going to police after a graduate assistant told him he saw sandusky assaulting a young boy in a locker room shower in 2002. the coach told administrators, as the law requires, but they failed to alert authorities. paterno is a legend here at penn state. during his sick dick aids of coaching he has won two national championships and pushed his players to succeed on and off the field. matt millen played for penn state in the lay '70s and was also on the board of the second mile, that is the charity sandusky started for at risk kids and where prosecutors say he targeted his victims. >>
