john. the crowd of people walking around the streets when we first arrived have all dispersed. it's startling when you see the graffiti, the handful of broken windows downtown. this is a coffee shop near frankza. a plate glass window broken overnight. what stands out is what some of the occupy oakland protesters are doing. they are putting up pallets and the sign "actions not done by the people." if we can walk around to this side over here i want to show you what some of the demonstrators are doing. they are saying this is a splinter group. it was really not what their message was. what people are doing here is they brought their own cleaning fluids and they are basically cleaning up all the spray paint that goes for several blocks here around the plaza. i want to show you video of what happened overnight when a splinter group broke off from the main group. they broke windows downtown and oakland police are saying that they actually took over a vacant building near frank ogala plaza. at one point faced off with police. police had to call for backup. they are saying they threw lit flares at them, bottles and rocks, that sort of thing. refused to disperse. police did deploy teargas. they say
