into action to save the man's life. kristy seifkin with amazing video and the heroic story. >> reporter: this is one of those stories about good samaritans coming to the aid of a man. it was incredible that he survived. he was trapped inside his car, unconscious with his seatbelt on this car engulfed in flames because he ran into a light post. you can see it over my shoulder, ran right into that. 90-degree angle where it's bent at the bottom and you can see that black color. that's not the light post. that's because of flames and just a few feet away at the sports authority, which is at the intersection of folsom and 13th, near where the accident happened, you can see remaining debris and also see some black marks in the flames on the pavement. now, according to police, that accident happened around 1:30 this morning. they say that a middle eastern man in his mid-30s was driving eastbound on folsom and had just crossed division when he crashed into the lamppost. that was at the center divide of 13th and folsom streets.
