it used to be that the good looking blondes were easy to spot, and then you and leslie stahl and suchcame along. how do we spot these folks who are perhaps credentialed, but don't know anything in their reports or whatever? >> i think it is tough. one important thing to say is not every expert is phony. bruce riedel is one of the best voices on afghanistan. he has incredible depth of experience there and he is somebody that i turn to. and so, there are some very real, there are some people who know a lot and have years and years, decades of experience. and i think that if you're a conscientious person he was always reading, over time you have to pay attention to the name and the institute. look, does this institution sit on the left or do they sit on the right? what's their motivation? you should evaluate, you evaluate somebody's motivation for why, why would they be saying that? why would they think that? if you don't have experience, firsthand experience and knowledge it's very hard to know when someone is slipping into academia and history, and it's easy to be intimidated by that b
