this storm may do that as we crank across eastern canada.we've got some snow showers back to our west this morning and we've got those clouds mixed in, strong gusty winds that will all ease up tonight but we'll have waves of sclouds with that storm to our north, maybe some rain showers on and off into the weekend. today we're close to 43. a brief slip and then trying to work our way back with strong gusty winds that could reach 30 to 40 miles per hour this afternoon. partly cloudy sky at some point back to clearing, 25 skwoefr night. quick peek here at the rest of the week and it's early next week as well. again, temperatures back into the 50s on friday and saturday. could have some rain showers mainly north of baltimore as we're heading into the holiday weekend including more clouds on new year's day and that potential for an east coast storm. some models are locked in on it so it's still a question mark but it looks like a rain to mix some accumulating snow event on monday night into tuesday. let's see what's happening right now. 7 minutes

it's going to tap into what is going on into central canada and eastern canada and eventually drag thatstuff down. it will take one or two of these storms that crank up in eastern canada, north atlantic to help to pull down that air. that's what we're looking for, for the pattern to change the next five to seven days. we're watching that little cluster of snow across the upper midwest, western great lakes. it's likely to get past to our north. even though it looks like we have stuff close by that is probably just going to clip north of the border and just give us clouds today. there's that old storm cranking up, that is one of the reasons we toopped in some of the cold air from canada. we're going to need more help. there will be more help. the pattern though is about to change. this warm four, five degrees above normal this month is about to change as well. we'll have an increase in clouds today. next disturbance will bring in warmer temperatures. although we're chilly this morning we'll get our way back up to near or just above normal this afternoon. although we had this active flow a

the front that stretches up into eastern canada, it's going to be a very potent storm indeed. you can see where all the heavy snow is going to be here across parts of kansas down into new mexico. and then it's going to be turning over to some freezing rain, a bit of a mix. we could see some severe thunderstorms with that as well towards the gulf coast and up into eastern texas. then the rain spreads up, turning to snow in eastern canada. so that's the set-up for monday. temperaturewise, we have a series of 7s in toronto, new york city as well as chicago. a warm day in atlanta ahead of the storm coming in, 17 degrees for you. 11 in oklahoma city and behind the storm, certainly is going to be much, much cooler and you can see the blues diving down into northern portions of, northwestern portions of mexico. minus 3 in denver, minus 5 in winnipeg and 14 for you in los angeles. all right now north america, no, we've done that. let's go into europe instead. looking pretty good for the time being out west. but there is yet another round of precipitation coming in. you can see the clo

this storm going to follow and pass in through eastern canada. as we take this closer to home, one thing we have notice second tapping in to the gulf of mexico moisture. thunderstorms rolling in through florida. this is interesting. see the convergence, picking up atlantic moisture in addition and all the stuff feeding carolinas, georgia, this is the hot zone for getting nasty storms and the thunderstorm variety and maybe violent storms as well. that may clip as far north as virginia beach, few rumbles of thunder through the chesapeake bay in to the delmar va. we will tap in to the rain and heavy stuff rolls in through midday in the afternoon. expect the heaviest rain on top of us for the ride home. it does look like at least the kids are home from school. the commute with less traffic could be a rough time around the beltway getting back through the afternoon and the evening hours. this should cut off this evening. racing through and gets out of here before midnight. cold air left with snow showers in the mountains. strong winds pick up behind t

up towards the north, an area of snow is moving through eastern canada reaching ontario as well as the northern rockies in the next 24 hours. but otherwise, it will stay largely dry across the eastern half of the u.s. we're expecting 11 degrees in new york and 13 in washington, d.c. but in denver, still cold but a bit warmer compared to thursday. and coming in at 22 degrees in houston. and 19 in los angeles. finally let's go over to europe. an active low pressure system is still bringing wet and windy conditions across the scandinavian peninsula. and the associated front is from the baltic states down to the northern peninsula bringing rain. and rain could become heavy across france, belgium, as well as spain. and in spain, you pay may see some snow in the higher evaluations. the system will move eastward over continental europe on friday. on the british isles, a break in the rain. however, it'll turn wet again starting friday night. down towards the south, thundershowers are developing over southwestern italy. temperatures are looking like this. we're expecting 8 degrees in london and

in the americas we are seeing a long rain band from the deep south region all the way up to eastern canada spreading heavy rain. we are expecting 50 millimeters of rain in the next 24 hours. the system has been moving slowly. the rainfall total could be significant. across the lower appalachians you could see heavy snow up to 20 centimeters or more. in northeastern canada and new england it will continue to see a mix of rain and snow as well as freezing rain into wednesday. up in the north an area of cold and blustery conditions is moving southward over ontario and quebec. but elsewhere it will remain largely dry under a high pressure testimony. just a few snow showers moving through the northern plains. temperature wise, minus 2348 winnipeg and 2 in chicago. in denver cooler than average but warmer than tuesday. and in california, strong santa ana winds are winding down overnight. we are expecting 20 degrees in los angeles. >>> finally in europe it's wet and windy again across most of the european countries. a new atlantic system is producing wet and windy conditions in the british isles.
