[applause] >> thank you, jennifer. the opening of pearl's here at the corner of sixth and market st. marks a major milestone as the mayor and our community partners have indicated. what was once a vacant and blighted corner is now this incredible, beautiful store where we can all enjoy burgers and then some. that history dates back many years. since 2003, the redevelopment and the city have invested in this area. more than 30 businesses and tenants, ranging from great community partners -- they are all here due to our sixth street economic revitalization loan program. without the partnership of folks like urban solutions, and jenny mcnulty is here -- we would not have been able to achieve the success, even though we had the strong backing of our mayor and our chief. we are excited that this is just one of many great

you have had lots of promises in the last couple of years on redevelopment. you take it away when no one is looking a couple of years later. golden gateway wants to make some money off of the site they got for $1. they got the entire site to develop because they promised a public amenities for the life of the project. the life of the project is still going on. public amenity was the recreation center. it is tennis courts and swimming pools. now you are being announced meet -- you are being asked to get rid of the tennis courts to cut a deal to do a land swap. that is what is going on. i find it frustrating that the only people who have seen these plans are the people that he got to show up on this. they say they love the new plans. there is nothing for the public. i asked staff about where the plans are. i was told there would be some here for the public. there are not any. i would like to have a set of the plans. they're not available from the planning department. they are available to the people misspoke in favor of the project. this is a project that is goi

this was created by an agency that's gone trade even people on the redevelopment agency are trying to get employed by the cbd. i'm going to prove to you in my year-end report that the west is corrupt -- we have the senior citizen program, which have thecbd -- there are so many agencies are corrupted our community, no fault of our outgoing supervisor, to be sure of, but it was corrupt by individuals. reverent tones and mentioned how we need the funding it was good in the first five years. -- rev. jones. it did not work in the western addition because it was involved with african-americans, blacks, negro's were involved. it wasn't a mixture because the people that you gave the money and trust to, they were corrupt. they came out with this project, and it was their idea to help redevelop our street. with the neighbors on the spot, we were able to win the award. with all the neighbors, and redevelopment, -- and i also want to thank one whirled designed -- this project came to light. we were able to get it on paper, and from there, it went to reality, with the help of the other departments. i also wanted knowledge the core members of the group that worked on this project. mardina, nimichelle, juan fuent, anna smith. we met with various residents on the block, at my house, month after month, to make this project work. there is so much love that goes out to redevelopment again, for all of the effort we put forth. it took six years to do this. some people said that it would never happen. in my heart and soul, i knew we were going to get this done. today is the day, as sunny as it is, you can see the wonderful and beautiful result of all the neighbors that have backed us through all of this, as well as the other departments who have helped us out. we want to thank you. this community built this block and it
