we need to do a lot in san francisco to encourage young people and young families to stay in san francisco. i think we are missing out on a lot of our diversity when young families leave our city. we need to do all we can to be mindful of the needs of young families in the city. we mentioned housing. schools are a big deal. but also being able to be flexible with transportation and children. >> what is happening with crime in your district? give me your thoughts on how you think the police are doing with respect to crime in your district? >> i think we are very fortunate in district two. we have a number of great police captains that oversee the stations that touched district two. richmond and northern are the two major police stations that touched the district. we do have a lot of crime in district 2. both crimes against individuals but also against merchants along our merchant corridors. chestnut. union in particular has been hit. fillmore and sacramento. it is a big deal. we also have the break-ins. we need to be very mindful that people keep their iphones and laptops out of sight. but

i was born and raised in san francisco. i went to abraham lincoln high school and i am a student at san francisco state university. i am urging all the today to vote yes to restore sharp park. partner in with the national park service's means the legislation has excellent planning and it will appeal to a greater audience compared to that of a golf course. in addition, voting yes on this legislation means you are choosing to protect to endangered species. as we know, this golf course is dependent on government subsidies. the majority of bay area golfers have already cast their vote on this issue by continuously choosing to spend their money to play golf elsewhere. it is time to step out of the golf course comfort zone and recognize it has been financially and environmentally unsustainable. it's time to change the system rather than try to keep alive with temporary technological fixes. restoring sharp park means creating a more self sustaining recreational space that allows for san francisco dollars to be applied to more pres

i am a student at san francisco state. myself and my academic peers collected over 500 signatures in support of making a national park out of sharp park. this is not counting the thousands of petitions signed and sent in online. thank you. >> and good afternoon. i am a san francisco resident and i am in support of this but deflation. i would like to bring it to the committee's attention a report issued by the san francisco planning and urban research association that makes several recommendations supporting building a national park. "the next 23 years, the city should proceed as quickly as possible to restore and protect frog and snake population. over the next three to 10 years, you should evaluate the feasibility of partnership with another entity to manage and or operate the site. finally, over the next five to 50 years, a change of land use should be considered for a sharp park, a naturalistic setting, including enlarged lake with an outlet to the ocean may provide better habitat at recreational opportunities as well a

she attended san francisco state university in 1971.a student teacher and has fought for at the studies while earning degrees in economics, a process that is, and social work. getting her degree, she met her husband. they have raised four children in the mission. in the 1980's, eva and other mission community activists to join together for the san francisco voter education and registration project. she'd been organized the great boycott committee. she served as regional manager and a spokesperson of that organization until 2002. in 1988, the ufw co-founder was brutally beaten here in san francisco by a police officer. as a leader, -- there is a happy ending to this story. after a three-year effort, she worked diligently with the college and to ensure justice for delores and to ensure there was a change in the san francisco police department policies regarding police reaction to legal social protests. in 1994, she organized the cesar chavez street coalition. to change the name of army street to cesar chavez street. she led a campaign to

because san francisco is so young. -- because san francisco is so young, it is riddled by faults. i have a map that shows the faults across the bay area and san francisco. the granddaddy of all of these is the san andreas fault. it is the longest. it can generate the greatest earthquakes. >> it is just south of san francisco. it goes offshore down here. >> from my house to the fault is about 3 miles on average. >> the closest area in san francisco to the fault is this area here in the southwest part of the city. people said that the closer you are, there are conditions that exacerbate issues. >> the fault's effect on development depends on the fault type and soil component. the san andreas is the main fault. there is the hayward fault. the difference between the two is that the san andreas is predominantly offshore. the hayward fault actually crosses beneath populated areas and poses a larger threat. as we speak, there is a 67% probability of a major earthquake on one of these faults in the next 30 years. it is of major -- high probability. it is a magnitude 6.5. the 1906 was 7.9.

not to get people caught up in them, but to make transit work and make transportation work in san francisco. that leads us to technology. technology is important because it helps us to be able to do things more efficiently and effectively. most san franciscans like and have technology. we are bringing technology to where people are. most people have cell phones come smartphones. we are adopting our systems to work with what people have in their day-to-day lives. i am joined by a great group of people behind me. they will talk about an exciting initiative we are launching today that will be one of the most significant things to hit parking in san francisco in generations. i am honored to have a man for whom this technology is not very important. that is our majoyor ed lee. the reason it is not important is because someone else has to worry about parking, it is because of something i learned about him a couple of months ago. it did not come out in the campaign or media. it turns out that ed lee has parking karma. he does not need it. but for the rest of us who do not have parking karma, we're
