begin with developing news this noontime out of san jose where police are looking for an armed carjacking suspect. milpitas police chased the suspect to a south san jose neighborhood near cast drive. these are live pictures from newschopper2 of the scene. you can see some police there. it looks like they -- they are hand kfing someone right now -- handcuffing someone right now. we're following the story. we have another information, the suspect apparently crashed the car around 8:30 this morning, got out of the car and fled on foot. he's been hiding ever since. police have shut down the neighborhood in the areas of seven trees boulevard and capitol expressway look for the suspect. it's believed he's armed with a handgun. he was driving a silver bmw. no injuries have been reported. ktvu's robert handa is at the scene now and joins us with more. so robert, were we just seeing the suspect being handcuffed, by chance? >> reporter: well, they were handcuffing somebody earlier who might have been assisting the suspect. so we're not sure if the video you saw is actually the suspect who was considered at-large a few minutes ago. we're in the area of

san jose. a man armed with a machete has barricaded himself in an apartment. its happening at the capitol s. >>> breaking news in south san jose. a man with a machete is barricaded in an apartment and police have surrounded the apartment at the capital village circle apartments. these are live pictures from south san jose. near west capitol expressway and snell avenue. police were called to the scene at 2:40 a.m. apparently some loud music. it's happened before. a 44-year-old man locked himself inside an apartment. we understand that he may have been drinking alcohol heavily, what we hear from neighbors who are there. many of those neighbors have been evacuated for their own safety as police try to get control of the man. they have even sent in members of the crisis intervention team. >> so that's the very latest down in san jose. it is affecting some traffic down there, as well. we have a lot of fog, too. let's kick it over to gianna and find out what's going on out there. >> it's a busy morning especially on the roads right now. if you are heading on the bay bridge, that fog advisory continues. in fact, they are mov

. >> reporter: the first carjacking occurred in milpitas and ended up here in the south san jose area. that's when a second carjacking occurred and our cameras were rolling as that suspected carjacker sped right by. you could hear the car peeling out there as it went by our camera position trying to elude police. let's bring in the sergeant with the san jose police department. what's the latest on the search? is he still outstanding? >> reporter: the suspect jerrick brown is still at large, armed and dangerous. he demonstrate his propensity for violence. he broke into a home, carjacked a second car. the victim came out very shaken up, had a golf club that he was trying to protect himself with. the suspect fled in his car ran over a police bike. >> reporter: what happened? >> the bike was posted up in a traffic control position and it happened to be in his path and he didn't hesitate. he rolled over the bike like it wasn't there and continue to flee towards the capitol expressway. >> reporter: there was no officer on the bike so no one was hurt? >> correct. >> reporter: okay. so should

san jose police are looking for a car jacker who started a police chase that led to a neighborhood lock down. the man got way despite a huge police presence in south san jose. that is where abc 7 is live with the story for us. >> this is ples saying they're after a suspect in a september 7th car jacking. the suspect fled on foot, then, the neighborhood lock down ended when police say the suspect pulled another car out behind me. >> shortly before 9:00 in the morning police cordoned off a two-block area in south san jose. they were going door to door, looking for this man, a 2 to-year-old. >> i saw the guy jump over the fence. and didn't know he was hiding he says he came face-to-face with the suspect describing how he was walking into the garage, hit the door opener and when he saw brown threw keys and went outside. >> officers approached the house. the suspect came out of the garage and car jacked another vehicle. >> the driver plowed into a parked police motorcycle, knocking it to the ground. no one was on it but neighbors watched the scene unfold. >> how did he get past cops around us? once coming out of the house he shouldn't have gone past ne

he got away after a wild ride through a south san jose neighborhood. l diaz reports. >> reporter: good morning. the suspect's name is jarek brown a resident of san jose and he did quite the vanishing act yesterday and part of that caught on tape. take a look. [ screeching tires ] >> reporter: this is exclusive video that we shot. we happened to be there when brown barreled around the corner on 7 trees boulevard. he blew through the red light at capitol expressway. it's a miracle he didn't ram into anyone there. as you can see and hear, at least 10 cops in squad cars and motorcycles chasing after him. but another motorcycle not so lucky yesterday when brown stole the second car a toyota camry. he plowed over this motorle, blocking the road. -- motorcycle blocking the road. thank goodness the officer wasn't on the motorcycle at the time. the chase began at 8:40 yesterday morning from milpitas. police there chasing him. he was in a bmw at the time which he subsequently deserted. here's who they are looking for. this is jarek brown, 31 years old, 5'10", 180

san jose police interviewed the person who made contact with the injured fan who stated that the contact was accidental during the celebration of a shark's goal. >> the man involved in a standoff in south san jose is in jail this morning. he faces multiple charges, including brandishing a deadly weapon at an officer and assaulting the officer. yesterday he called police to say he was confrontational when asked to turn down his music. he refused to come out when police arrived and was armed with a machete. after a five-hour standoff he walked out with a bottle of alcohol and tried to lung at a police dog. the dog bit him. no officers were hurt. 12 people were arrested inside a foreclosed property on 10th street. the yesterday police went in, cleared them out, and then crews boarded up the door's home and windows. >>> the chp says the annual holiday dui crackdown is already yielding results and it's not over yet. extra patrols will be out to keep an eye on new year's eve partiers. police have arrested more than 1,000 people in the bay area. almost 500 were arrested in alameda county, some of them after the raiders/lions game on december 18th. dui checkpoints will be set up tonight and to

san jose. witnesses describing what's been a dramatic chaotic day, mark. >> reporter: allen, a very dramatic day for residents here in the south san jose neighborhood. this morning, they were under a "shelter in place" order and that's when the suspect the police were looking for committed a second carjacking right here from the house behind us. you are witnessing what san jose police believe was the second carjacking in this case, the driver taking off north on seven trees boulevard, running a red light and was nearly hit by a crossing truck.
