i'm speaking in favor of dennis richards. i have known him since i was a baby neighborhood activist. when i first started getting involved it was because a bar in the neighborhood was being an incredible nuisance and violating all sorts of conditions of use and rules. i was quite angry and not approaching it in the right way. dennis taught me all the steps that i needed to know and he taught me about coming out with compromise, collaboration, and working positively towards a solution rather than being indignant and angry about a situation. he is a thoughtful leader, he always thinks about the big picture, and is quite a death that taking his own personal opinions of the situation and thinking about what is best for the neighborhood. i also know peter cohen. i have known him since i was a teenager in neighborhood involvement and i worked a great deal on expanding the market octavia plant and worked a great deal together. a dozen of the exact address, but i learned a great deal from him. he is incredibly smart. gosh and the sus

item, please line up. >> i am dennis richards. we -- we have many bars and some clubs, we are not foreign to working on -- with bar owners. we worked with cafe floor to expand their alcohol service as well as their opening and closing time. we also worked with the cafe on an enforcement issue we have. one of the things i wanted to say is the issues and spilling into the neighborhood and creates an adversarial situation with the bar owners and the bars. fortunately for two of the three, they are passed resolved and there is one we're working through currently. the thing that amazes me is i am the the board of the eureka valley castro neighborhood association. there was this bar owner there. are owners are supposed to be adversaries. they have their agenda and we have our agenda. tim comes in and wants to work with the neighborhood. this has been an incredible experience. i'm one the police department lgbt form. we talked at one meeting. -- i am on the police department lgbt forum. i talked with tim and he had developed a plan with

it is signed by dennis richards, thank you.or wiener: thank you very much. >> i am the chair of the castro community on patrol, a volunteer organization to improve the safety and security of the castro. i have ideas that can be forwarded to the other commissioners. the thing i want to point out is that these plazas are both adjacent to residential areas. in the case of jane warner plaza, there are 12 apartments above the sidewalk. in the case of harvey milk, there is a condominium group that has their entrance on the sidewalk of the plaza. what we find is that without any consideration of the folks that live there, common sense and decency are being able to have a time of day where people can have peace and quiet in their own homes as part of the consideration. also, from this month and the policethe statistics are lookint the statistics within a certain radius. more than half of the reported incidents are happening after 9:00 p.m. and the noise complaints with the exception of one complained have been taking place between 11:0

richards and our treasure. is he still here? he is outside. it is $10 for an individual and 15 for a couple. i don't think you can get much better than that. also, dennis mentioned fund-raisers. we will be having fund-raisers this upcoming year. we have a difficult time ahead of us with redistricting, so districts are going to be different from what we are used to so things are going to be changing a bit on that so we need to be prepared. the democrats didn't like having us have a 75% majority in the house, so you can bet that they are going to be working overtime on this one. especially they are going to be trying to, as it appears to be we are going to be one of the swing states they are going to be targeting, there is going to be a lot of obama money coming in here. there is going to be a lot of volunteers for massachusetts where it doesn't mean much because they always go democrats so we need to be prepared. we are going to be having fund-raisers. we are going to need to be organizing carefully to make sure that we can deliver new hampshire for the republican side, whichever these wonderful nominees we have heard about is going to be the candidate.
