tonight she shares her story with angie goth. >> reporter: erin will let took "the voice" by storm. behind that smile was a very sad story. >> i found out my father had cancer over the filming when i was living in new york. about an hour later, i got a call from the show saying that i might possibly have an opportunity to be on "the voice." >> her dad chuck who was once the voice of a d.c. oldies band was her inspiration. he made her audition, but he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. >> i was probably the most nervous about sighing my father on tv knowing that he's already passed away. >> she recalls watching the show with a wave of emotion. >> it's really a great moment when no words can be spoken, and you can just see someone's face and how proud they are of you. >> reporter: it was an experience her mother feels lucky to have shared. >> for xhuk he chuck especially to wait my whole life to see this moment. >> reporter: soon erin will return ready to sing her heart out knowing her hero is still watching. >> i'm so glad he was there for it, and yeah, now i get a little angel

angie goth and big tigger join us in the studio. >> we have round two of the blind auditions behind usboth watching this together. a lot of talent and diversity. what did you think? >> i thought it was awesome. it's awesome to see the stories behind these people, you know, this one guy who is dealing with hiv, another person who is homeless. the one person who has been trying to sing forever. so to see all the backgrounds in these people and look into their lives is the best part of the show. >> definitely adds another dimension to the music we see. this was a highlight from last week's show. this is lindsay pavillo. she kind of had the angie winehouse kind -- or amy winehouse. sorry. too many angies. but amy winehouse kind of sound. you said it didn't work for you. >> not for me. >> why? >> it was interesting to see her flip that song but i just don't know. not for me. >> isn't that what this contest is all about, taking somewhat somebody else does and making it your own? that is really what she was aiming to do. >> good for her. coming up tonight a contestant from the d.c. area is go
