we knew we had the downtown open in some fashion or form. and so then the enterprise shifted to getting these pavilions set up and all the volunteers and structures, leases and use city parking lots and the pavilions. it was an impossible thing that just couldn't have happened except organically with everybody doing stuff. as much as we can empower them, keeping in mind we had to maintain some control and decorum and some safety features. and, you know, thank goodness nothing really bad happened. we were there until 10:00 at night the night before thanksgiving doing the final touches on paving and we had a downtown. accessible in parts by the day after thanksgiving. so that was sort of the sprint. the long term, and i'm keeping me from my parking meter so i'll do this quickly. the long term is that -- the long-term plan for santa cruz and then watsonville is really the marathon. and you talk about what makes good plans and good planning is good plans and good planning is really good process and you

here's a live look at our sensors coming out of downtown san jose. and this is what conditions are like on 280 heading out of downtown right there by the 880/17 interchange. so elsewhere we are going soaring over the skies in the bay area over westbound 580 where we're getting a few brake lights right now. not too bad. it's not impacting your drive time. still only 14 minutes from the altamont pass to the dublin interchange. westbound 580 and 4 through antioch usually slow but not bad yet. closer to 6:00 we'll see speeds possibly under 25 miles per hour. caltrans has the warning signs up by the pay gates letting you know about the president's day weekend closure at the bay bridge. so if you forget, there is a warning sign that will be up all weekend. on the upper deck the left lane may be blocked by overnight roadwork scheduled until 6:00 this morning. nimitz 880 through oakland, past the coliseum, a little busier now southbound traffic still moving fine from the macarthur maze all the way down past oakland airport. back to you. >> thank you. >>> it

my company moved into a new office building, downtown. the first day of work there, i am one of the first employees to show up. i am prohibited from taking my bike up. we found another accommodation. this was one of my babies, i could not lock this up. i switched to riding a bike i could afford to get stolen. the building does offered by a parking facilities inside, but they are simply sub-standard. you cannot remove the front wheel and lock the frame, there is not enough space. the building manager said that this is first-come, first-served until 9:00. there is no way to secure these, and many of them are not locked up. i have been working with the building manager to offer alternatives. they are making steps forward. to accommodate more cyclists. hopefully more safely. my question comes down to the wording of the legislation, which includes the word safe and secure.
