good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura.t's right. 61-year-old dennis bagwell may enter a plea. he was here yesterday afternoon for his arraignment charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and also to find a public defender. this as we learn more about a possible motive. bagwell allegedly shot robert suplick, also 61, tuesday morning outside the officer's newark home. in court records bagwell became obsessed with the victim's wife whom he had taught. that began a few months ago. smith told police she rejected bagwell's advances and remained friendly with him and occasionally texted him but eventually confronted bagwell. told him to leave the couple alone after he was spotted, quote, lurking in the bushes outside the home. bagwell lived with his wife in fremont until they filed for divorce in 2009 and lost their home to foreclosure a year later. we spoke with the owner of the schools where bagwell worked and he said that despite all of those recent changes bagwell never acted differently. jon and laura,
