supervisor avalos: thank you. i want to thank mr.iott and mayor lee for their comments and decision to have this matter continued. i think it is testament to the kind of relationship this mayor has built with this board and supervisors that he is willing to approach it this way. and the reality is there are differences in opinion we may have on a specific issue. we are committed to working together. the thing about jobs is that i think on the issue of jobs, there's a lot more commonality then there are differences. and the key is to focus on that commonality. this mayor has set an example of how people can come together around an issue and the issue of what happened with pension reform is a perfect example. where you had instead of having a unilateral approach to have an approach that brought a number of people together. to the extent you want to talk about jobs, it is better to do it in the way you are proposing. i think those of us who had concerns about this what we recognize the intent simply felt that the charter amendment route

supervisor avalos: thank you very much. ok. >> supervisors, mr. reiskin mentioned earlier our strategic plan and focusing on safety. one of the things we have task the commander and security folks and safety faults with about goals -- one is to reduce crime on muni by 5%. redos graffiti incidents on muni by 5%, and also obtain a fare evasion rate of 5% on the system. the only area we are having problems with right now, which the commander has truly changed the deployment plan, is the fare evasion rate. we are seeing that steadily increase. what has really helped us to increase our enforcement on the system with fare inspectors -- we move them from our metro east facility to our south van ness location, so they are centralized now and can travel throughout the city as opposed to writing the t line to a specific location. we move them downtown, and they can go wherever they need to go. we have seen a reduction in crime. we have seen a significant reduction in graffiti incidents, and we are working very hard to reach that 5% goal that we have set. th

mr. martin, are you up first? >> good afternoon, supervisors. mike martin, america's cup director from the oewd. thank you, supervisor avalos. that was agreed description of where we have come to at this point. in the hearing back in september, i sort of had a fairly lengthy presentation about the economic opportunity about the event in san francisco being unique in a lot of ways. i think part of that presentation focused on the the way that the jobs and small business opportunities are really going to come from a lot of different places. not only from the construction projects, but i think you are referring to the local hi ordinancere , but also to other opportunities in the construction program. yesterday we had the -- another milestone in the cruise ship terminal project, which is a public aspect of this project, and that is moving forward with all of this city contracting provisions as part of it. we are excited to see that go forward. i also sort of take time to appreciate the efforts the event authority has moved forward in terms of really talking about all the other strategies to bring home these economic benefits to
