. >> reporter: cal trans spokesman bart ney says an early opening of the upper deck is still a favorableght now, the scheduled reopening time is 5 a.m. tuesday morning. that could change, however. first let's show you what the construction site looked like this morning. all this work has been done on the -- the bulk of the work has been done on the oakland side of the bay bridge. crews have been working 10 to 12 hour shifts around the clock since the upper deck closed 8:00 friday night. the whole purpose of shutting down the western span of the bridge was to create a detour. that detour moved westbound bay bridge traffic south of its old path allowing crews to tear down an older section of the bridge. crews are still working on that demolition. it's not complete yet. but for the most part, they did finish repassing and smooth -- repaving and smoothing out the road around that detour. finishedded that around sun set last night and overnight they started striping or painting new lanes on the pavement. we're told that striping work is nearly done. cal trans is taking advantage of the bridge
