[applause] >> great to be here governor. >> we'll talk about the budget, it is had controversy. largely because i don't think many democrats want to support it. but tell me what does the budget do that americans ought to like? >> guest: as you know the depth in this country is stifling the economy and threatening our future, so much so that the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff said it was not a national security problem in terms of military that concerned him, it was the debt. that was the largest concern as it relates to national security. quee have to get our spending under control. we believe it is irresponsible not to put forward a budget. we can't understand why the senate will not put on paper what their priorities are. our proprietaries are to decrease spend reinvigorate the economy and allow the taxpayers to keep. and savi

just yesterday you had paul rhine, congressman, and marco rubio, conservative senator from florida. last week. former popular governor of florida and this week an elder statesman in the party, george herbert walker bush, former president. it gives an air of inevitability to romney he's going to win the nomination. the story line strengthens because all of these people are starting to back him. the establishment is starting to back him, but also, randi, some endorsements help as we because these are conservative people. ryan and rubio, a group romney needs help with when it comes to getting backing. >> he certainly does. talk about wisconsin. that primary is coming up this week. is thas must win for santorum? if not, what happens to him? >> reporter: it's got to be a must win. wisconsin the only one he has a shot. maryland and district of columbia, pretty much romney territory. look at this poll though. the most recent poll out of there from yesterday. nbc marash, you can see here, santorum has his work cut out for him. seven points down according to this mbs maynbc maris poll. if he

before i explain why, i want to let your viewers know the ryan budget is called the rhine budget because they think paul ryan wrote it. i think it is appropriate to call it that because he is the chairman of the house budget committee. but he is handcuffed by the 13 appropriators, the chairman that run the subcommittees for the appropriations committee. they are very big spending republicans. so this budget has a lot of more spending in it than what is being portrayed in the media. there is some great reform second, reform, tax reform in it. at the end of the day when you look at the fiscal year 13th part of the budget, it does not go far enough. the reason why we opposed it is because it does not balance for another generation. we need to balance the budget this year, if not next year. this does not balance until 2014. that is remarkably long time to wait to finally balance the budget. second, last year the debt deal, as everybody may remember, required a lot of spending cuts, whether it was in spending caps or through the sequestration process were automatic cuts per year. this budget and wants that.
