nbc's charles hadlock joins us now with the latest from tulsa. charles, good evening. >> reporter: good evening, lester. police in tulsa are not calling friday's shooting spree a hate crime, they call it murder, plain and simple. but they might consider federal hate crime charges if the evidence takes them there. ♪ a somber easter sunday service in tulsa. >> some folks don't have their family members with them right now. some folks are not enjoying this easter as we are. because their relatives have gone on. >> reporter: for nearly 48 hours, neighborhoods in north tulsa were gripped with fear until today when police say they captured two men allegedly involved in the shooting spree that left three people dead and two wounded. >> it sickens me, it angers me. this is not what tulsa, oklahoma, is about. >> reporter: police say the suspects were roommates, 32-year-old alvin watts, and 19-year-old jake england, both charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder. >> our investigation always includes social networking sites. >> reporter: on a faceb

just happened out of nowhere. >> that was charles hadlock reporting. records show that alvin watts was charged for assault and battery in 2009, but that those charges were dropped. he also paid a fine for a domestic violence offense in 2006. well, on tuesday, a florida grand jury will be tasked with deciding whether to charge the man who killed trayvon martin. george zimmerman maintains he shot martin in self-defense this past february in sanford, florida. martin was unarmed and many believe zimmerman's decision to shoot martin was racially motivated. dc delegate eleanor holmes norton will host a forum tuesday night that folk uss on the perceptions of black men in society. it runs from 6:30 to 8:30 at the d.c. armory. >>> north korea is set to launch what they are calling a communications satellite into orbit. the government says the launch is part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the birth of north korea's founder kim il-sung. the u.s. and other nations believe it is a cover-up for a ballistic missile test. they have urged north korea to cancel

we want to bring in charles hadlock. welcome. >> good afternoon here in north texas. what you're showing on tv is one of several that have been reported over north texas. right now, the extent of damage is unknown. we have a report from johnson county from our local affiliate kxas that there is tremendous damage near joshua. this also tornado you've been showing on msnbc is a tornado that started in ellis county, just south of dallas. and moved into southern dallas county. it is now in the eastern part of dallas county where a tornado warning remains for the next 20 minutes or so. martin? >> and as i understand it, this was in the southeast of dallas. touching down near the town of red oak. literally lifting a number of tractor-trailers off the ground, tossing them around like confetti. this tornado has not slowed in terms of its speed. it is actually continuing to move. is that right? >> that's correct. it is moving at about a 30-mile-an-hour pace it is a moves off to the northeast. but they're other fubl clouds as well

let's go back to charles hadlock. what's the latest information that you have?you there? okay. we don't have charles. dallas-ft. worth airport in the path of this tornado. people in the airport are being told to take shelter now at the airport. hopefully we can get somebody from the airport. that is where the american airlines hub. that airport is near arlington. for poichb reference, the dallas cowboys stadium is located there. this is a short drive, 15 maybe less minutes from the dallas-ft. worth airport. to give you perspective on all of this, this is a great portion of north texas right now under a tornado watch. we're naming many counties that you perhaps have never heard of before. all of these counties are in north texas. known as the dallas-ft. worth metroplex. commonly referred to as such with several tornadoes on the ground. so far we've not heard of any fatalities but we have seen video come in. a great amount of damage to homes, to businesses, as well. we know school are on lockdown. my own nephew's school. his high school is under lockdown. my mothe

the tulsa police chief said their investigation would follow the evidence nbc's charles hadlock is in's a sigh of relief by many in the community there. >> you bet, alex. tulsa awakened today to the news it had been waiting to hear. that the person or persons believed responsible for the killing spree on friday had been captured. this morning at 1:47 a.m. police arrested 32-year-old alvin watts and 19-year-old jake england. police say watts and england will be charged with three counts of murder and two counts of shooting with intent to kill. it all started friday morning when three people were shot and killed within a few hours of each other in a predominantly african-american area of north tulsa. two other people were wounded, one of those survivors described the shooting man with the gun as a white man driving a white pickup truck. then late last night, at 6:00, police found a burned truck in osage county to the north of us here in tulsa. the tulsa newspaper said it was registered to jake england of tulsa and the local newspaper also reports that jake england's father, carl, was sh
