this is really dry air. 60 -- 60 degrees the high so far. very dry air and a breeze out of the southwest at 5 miles per hour. 56 degrees reported -- 58 in martinsburg. temperatures fairly mild compared to what we will have later tonight. later tonight they will drop off with clear skies and mild winds even in the city we will be about 39 degrees. in suburban areas we will be briefly near freezing. all of these jurisdictions north and west of the city are under frost advisory. temperatures to the mid-atlantic pretty steady into the 50's right now. you go farther southwest the start to pick up temperatures in the 60's. that is where you will start heading in our direction tomorrow. right now temperatures are not hot, they are warm enough and the central and southern plains. all of this warm air will start moving in our direction. we will have a progression in temperatures as the center moves out over the next 72 hours will pick up when some of the southwest. that will draw and warm temperatures. we will eventually get into the 80's by sunday,

new jersey red flag warning, so very dry air but pleasantly warm and comfortable. i want to show you the high temperatures on the day. downtown flirting with 80, getting to 77. we hit 74 in annapolis. 75 in cambridge. more active weather south and us. the showers and storms overspreading west virginia, parts of virginia. shout is where we have a severe thunderstorm watch through coastal north carolina. so this is an hear we could see severe storms tonight. unless you're traveling well south you're looking good because most of this weather will remain confined south of us. you can see the stalled out frontal boundary south of baltimore. that's holding the showers to date. much more active weather to the west and particularly southwest where that same storm system that rips through texas will continue to impact places like louisiana. by the way, we're blogging about that, some wild video at abc2news.com. just check out the weather blog. in any case showers continuing this evening and some storms and severe weather as close as norfolk, virginia. then through thursday
