david lee miller covering the proceedings today and is he live on the top story at the bottom of the hour for us. we have some new information about this suspected plot, it's my understanding, david lee. >> that's right, shepard. new information on the first day of what is supposed to be a three week trial. according to a government witness, a convicted terrorist, al qaeda wanted the subway attack to take place while george w. bush was still in office o. the original plan was to explode a car bomb, but the terrorists apparently lost a page from their instruction booklet and then decided they would have to make due with suicide vests. the defendant then suggested that those vests, the device be constructed in the apartment building in new york city where he was working as a door man. that plan was knicksed, shepard? >> it's my understanding the feds have a slew of convicted terrorists to be witnesses in this thing. what is the defense doing to discredit that bunch? >> that's right, there is a very long list of convicted terrorists that are supposed to testify at this trial. and if what
