taking a new turn this morning, santa clara authorities looking in the neighboring communities of san martin and in gilroy. bob redell is following the news developments he. he joins us with the latest. >> reporter: good morning, jon. this drive south of sierra lamar's home, as driven in part by tips from the public, none which have panned out yet. but mostly just a natural extension of the search area. the sheriff's office has performed five searches for sierra lamar around morgan hill where she lives and areas north. this morning, the sixth search marks their first time into the southern territory. we just got a briefing from the head of the search and rescue unit. he tells us they have seven teams out there this morning. been out there for a couple of hours now, totalling 15 people. they've also got three dogs trained in the detection of human remains. they're driving to these specific locations by car. these are locations they've already looked at a map and said maybe we should take a look there. they're spending 15 to 60 minutes at each place before moving on to the next search site. >> the rescuers

news. the active weather has for the most part moved through the greater bay area and it's concentrated over gilroyu can see that here from this live picture over san francisco. now later on today, this picture will likely reveal some pretty tall cumulonimbus clouds building. we still have an unstable air mass overhead so we'll be watching that today. i want to widen out and over the greater bay area mostly dry. we have a few pop-up thunderstorms starting to develop. they're falling apart rather quickly but once we get the daytime heating, that could be another story. right now watching temperatures on the cool side as well. you'll need that jacket just about all day long but, hey, talking about 60 degrees. san jose, livermore, you'll hit about 54 degrees at 4:00 p.m. in san francisco and oakland today. so with all that wet weather on the roadways, there's a couple of incidents to report. 580 eastbound, this is in livermore, reports of a car fire earlier this morning. now, we do know there's a crew on the scene working to get that fire cleared, but we know there's a backup as well, at least a mile.
