and i want to thank eric mcdonald from united way. u, eric, for helping us lead 5,000 jobs this summer. [applause] he's working really well with our school district, with our families and children of youth and families departments, with all the city departments to make this commitment true, 5,000 summer jobs. and we've got a website for those of you who are asking i don't know how to get those jobs. well, we're aiming those jobs this summer at disconnected youth. and for you not to be disconnected, the website, hiresfyouth.org. get on that youth. we are serious about this. we've got jobs from all of the great companies in san francisco joined with all of the departments that you see here. we've got a lot of departments here today as well. they're here to listen. and we can answer some of the questions that you have today, we'll do that. but most importantly, we're here to listen to what you believe the priorities for district 11 and district 10 are, what you think the issues in san francisco have to be paid attention to. and we want to

i would like to bring up the chair, eric mcdonald, to speak on behalf of the task force. [applause] >> 31 meetings, over 100 hours, 1300 oral and public comments, but who's counting? it was our privilege and pain to serve and we're grateful for this acknowledgement. we did go into the process as a full task force committed to openness and transparency and doing our best to engage as broad a set of constituents as possible. on one hand, we feel we did a good job. we did not do a great job because we did not reach some folks we hope we couldn't reach. one of our recommendations calling for to future task forces is to start early and go often and get as many voices into the room as possible. lastly, i want to apologize because there were a number of people who shall remain anonymous who were expecting a very politicized, raucous, divisive process and we didn't deliver. to them, behalf of the task force, i apologize and i would like to publicly thank the members of the task force to work well together to deliver what we believe is a map and said of redrawn districts in the be
