warner? >> i have been involved in the cable business for 40 years. time warner or one of the companies. a study with a company called time incorporated, which was a magazine company that was getting into the television business. twitter it merged with warner to form time warner.

this week michael powell -- we talked with him as well as glenn britt who is chairman of time warner cable. >> michael powell, president of the national cable and tele- communications association. you had a sit-down interview with the sec chairman. chairman jankowski talk about shared services agreements that need a closer attention. >> it is a subject that has come up someone significantly -- consistently. i think it was meant to signal that is one area that they may have some concerns when people are bundling power and leverage the right combination of these agreements. there may be something in there that concerns them. i assume that is what he was focused on. to be candid i have not heard much more about this beyond that. it is interesting they are focused on that. we will see what comes of that. >> any concerns for the cable industry? >> for some of my members it is. this has been a touchy issue. there are operators that are strenuously continue to be concerned about rising programming costs, particularly in the broadcast for is -- phase. there are a whole lot of pieces to that, part

we talked to him as well as the chairman of time warner cable. here are those interviews. michael powell, president and ceo of the national cable and telecommunications association, yet this week at the cable show you had a sit down interview with fcc chairman genachowski, and chairman genachowski talked about the fact that shared services agreements needed closer attention. what is your view? >> he didn't expand on on detail but it is a subject that is come up somewhat consistently in the courts, concerns about reagan's addition to the senate. and i think it was meant to signal that that is one area that the commission may have some concern when people are bundling, we transfer and legitimate -- leverage. there may be something in there from a public policy perspective that concerns them. i assume that's what he was focused on. but to be candid i haven't heard much more about that beyond that. it's interesting, interesting they are focused on it and we will see what comes of that. >> are the concerns? >> certainly for some of our members it is. it's been a touchy issue bot

verizon just struck a deal with comcast and time warner cable to sell wireless service to their customerscnn reports the move to reduce competition seems a little quote suspicious. >>> and new problems for groupon. the "wall street journal" reports a regulator is examining trading in groupon that sent its shares soaring before reporting profits. groupon is not commenting. the stock was up almost 19% in trading on monday. before the daily deals company announced better than expected first quarter earnings after the close of trading. it happened on monday afternoon. >>> just in time for tanning season, a list of the best and worst sunscreens has just been released. the 2012 sunscreen guide by the environmental working group gives tips on what to buy and what to avoid. it says the best choice if you want to look for sunscreens labeled broad spectrum. these are products that guard against uva and uvb rays, both have been found to cause skin cancer and look for sun protection factor spf of at least 15 but don't bother to pay for higher than 50. now you know when you go to the drugstore. >> up

and if you are one of those shareholders that now owns time/warner cable or separately, or aol, you've gone up in value considerably versus where it started. >> rose: where do you want time/warner to be that it's not? >> i want it to be more profitable even than it is and i'd like it to continue to cement the position that we actually have. it's not that we're not, we are the strongest voice, the most consistent teller of compelling stories. so whether it's telling a story in journalism, whether you're telling a story in entertainment, you know, having it be fresh, having it be something that appeals to people across the planet because now these days everything that is made that's electronic, even a magazine goes across the planet. you can't really succeed unless everything you do is relevant on a global basis. and it's still fresh, got to feel authentic. >> rose: what's the challenge of the digital platform with you. >> well the challenge is, there's actually more opportunity than challenge. and if you test that by thinking about what's happened recently, the last 20 years has had thi

so bullish on comcast, our parent come, time warner cable, directv, perhaps not so much on verizon wireless and at&t. where do you come down here? >> long verizon and at&t so i come down on that side. >> you like the dividends. i know that. >> yeah. but i recognize the threat that comes from comcast doing that deal. but i also -- it's a while before you go there. i'm not at a point where i can completely go off 3 or 4g with my cell phone. so i think in the meantime verizon and at&t still have nice competitive advantage and they pay me a nice dividend. >> cortes? >> con comcast this stock has traded very well today and for quite a long time. as a matter of fact, relative to the s&p comcast is hitting an eight-year high today. so the price action there has been incredible. it's been the market leader. i think it will continue to be. >> a nice year to date as you just saw there on that chart up 22%. you have a favorite name in this group? >> i like comcast the best but along with bk -- >> you are not sucking up, right? >> i actually do. we saw some option activity in there as well to the upsid
