larry gerston. wall street times, "nbc nightly news," high-profile national outlets focussing on what's happening in san jose. we chatted with mayor chuck reidn our studios tonight. he's a happy man. >> i talked to npr about it today. this is national news not only now but really are for the rest of the week. what do we make out of this? first and foremost, you had chuck reid on. it's vindication for chuck reid, no question about it. this is the cornerstone of this man's legacy. he can be celebratory tonight. second, it will ensure conflict, not tonight, between the mayor and the minority of the council and its labor allies for the rest of the turn. there are raw feelings here, raj, on both sides that aren't about to go away. the third point, it puts unions everywhere on notice. remember, this is a national story. this wasn't just the work of a single individual like wisconsin's governor, scott walker. rather it was a one-sided, and i mean a one-sided message from the voters. they have spoken and the country has heard. >> here comes the litigation which is soon to come. >> you bet. >> prop 29, right now still too close to call, as you know.
