the county elections boards are equally divided, two republicans and two democrats in every county.epublicans have been voting to expand early voting hours in ruppen leaning counties but they have been voting against it in democratic counties. and that led to a situation where voters in traditionally republican counties like butler county, for example, they would have had the opportunity to vote on nights and weekend while voters in traditionally blue counties like chiuyahoga county would not have that chance. in order to rectify that problem, in order to fix that blatantly biased set of rules, ohio's republican secretary of state last week came out finally and decided to take away expanded early voting hours for everyone. at least it was sort of standardized. for every single county across the state, he directed every county elections board to adopt the same hours for early voting during the week s leading up to election day. this is important. this is important. he did not say what should happen on the weekends. the hours that he distributed only laid out the rules for early votin

>> i think it depends on which county you're in. i think san francisco is the only county in the state that currently has a prop 36 court that is still actively working because the state has defunded all the prop 36 courts in efforts across the state. so i think this provides senator leno's bill really does the right thing and tries to move in a direction that's not contingent to how much money is available within one jurisdiction or not and actually frees up $64 million of general fund at the state level that could be reinvested into services. i know when you look at realignment, for example, here in san francisco, a 1/3 of our plan, a third of our dollars for realignment has been invested in substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment and housing but we've made that choice. i think if you compare us, though, to many other jurisdictions, we have a collaborative court continuum that is unmatched in other parts of the state. so i think to say they wood, it's not happening. and if you look at other jurisdictions throughout the

this is a huge loss for the prince george's county police department. they are mourning the loss of one of your own. as you were saying he is officer adrian morris, just 23 years old, only on the police force for two years. the officer lost his life after a police chase yesterday. two prince george's county police officers were alerted to a car that may have been involved in annual attempt the car break-in at a gas station earlier in the day. they sur sued the suspect in -- pursued the suspect in their cruiser but then the police officer went off the road on i- 95 south landing in a ditch. witnesses say the alleged suspect may have tried to run that police car off the road. officer morris was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. >> this job is not an easy job by any means and there's danger in everything we do just about. but these officers were dedicated to doing their duty and that's what they were doing was following up on this theft rert. >> reporter: we urge you to stop what you're doing this morning and take a lo
