eun, over to you. >>> 6:43.g today, vdot will begin taking down dozens of trees in fairfax county to prevent accidents like this one. megan mcgrath is live with more on the tree removal project. good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning, eun. yeah, this was all prompted by the terrible storm that happened in july. a huge oak tree, a 40-ton oak tree came crashing down on top of a car that was driving along georgetown pike. the driver inside that vehicle was killed. turns out the tree had decayed, rotting at the roots and prompted it to come down in this storm. folks who live in this area say there are a lot of trees who are dead or are decay. vdot brought in a team of arborists and they have been examining, taking a look at all of the trees in the area. and they have identified 59 trees that they deem to be dangerous. they're either dead or in the process of rotting. and so what they've done is tied ribbons around the trunks of some. others, they spray painted white "x"s. beginning later on today they will ha
