eun, over to you. >>> 6:43.g today, vdot will begin taking down dozens of trees in fairfax county to prevent accidents like this one. megan mcgrath is live with more on the tree removal project. good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning, eun. yeah, this was all prompted by the terrible storm that happened in july. a huge oak tree, a 40-ton oak tree came crashing down on top of a car that was driving along georgetown pike. the driver inside that vehicle was killed. turns out the tree had decayed, rotting at the roots and prompted it to come down in this storm. folks who live in this area say there are a lot of trees who are dead or are decay. vdot brought in a team of arborists and they have been examining, taking a look at all of the trees in the area. and they have identified 59 trees that they deem to be dangerous. they're either dead or in the process of rotting. and so what they've done is tied ribbons around the trunks of some. others, they spray painted white "x"s. beginning later on today they will ha

eun, over to you. >>> 6:43.enate could vote today on a bill to expand gambling in the state. senate committee quickly approved it on the first day of the special legislative session order i'd by governor martin o'malley. supporters want to put a casino in prince george's's county and legalize table fwams. maryland voters must prove any expansion of gambling in the state if they do, table games could be an existing casinos before tend of the year. the state senate will also take up that legislation that would make all dog owners liable if their animals bite anyone. it was drafted in response to a ruling by maryland's highest court. the court of appeals ruled in april that pit bulls are inherently dangerous and that makes pit bull owners liable even if first time their dog bites someone. this bill would apply those strict standards to all dog owners. >>> a man is in the hospital after his little brother and his daughter were killed in a house fire in capitol heights. this morning we're hearing from their family. 1
