abc2 news' sherrie johnson is live this morning in northeast baltimore. that's where the latest on the investigation is happening. and i know they have been looking for this shooter. any details? >> reporter: just got off the phone with baltimore city police and they're telling me they're still looking for the gunman so this is a very active investigation. and just a little bit classes are set to resume here at morgan state university. of course last night they canceled classes because of that shooting. now yesterday, it was a very chaotic scene on campus. a little after 4:00 p.m. shots rang out when the smoke cleared a man was shot in the stomach in the student center. he later collapsed outside the building. witnesses say the victim was inside the student center playing pool. now authorities immediately went into action locking down the campus. they also sent out a message on the campus alert system warning students and staff of that shooting. now city police used the s.w.a.t. team to search the area looking for the gunman. now investigators don't think

sherrie johnson is live with more on the security plan. what have you learned. you were speaking early this morning with the school officials on the phone. >> reporter: that's exactly right. baltimore county public schools plan to meet with staff and top educators about the building safety and security plan in a mandatory meeting this morning. the plan is to try to make schools a lot safer. baltimore county's superintendent, he just started july 1st. and he said that he wants to build a larger safety net for security this comes after two major gun incidents at baltimore county schools season the first day of class. in one incident, a teenage gunman shot another in the cafeteria in the high school. and on tuesday, and eighth grade student showed up with a handgun and he threatened his teacher and a class full of students. today's meeting will lay out a new approach to safety and security. and it will help the students understand their role in the new plan. it's a reminder to staff and students to be aware of your surroundings. if you see something, say something.

abc2 news sherrie johnson is live as people come to say their final good-byes. >> reporter: well, we are here live just a few feet away from the baltimore hebrew congregation in northwest baltimore. today, family, friends and players will gather here to say a final good-bye to art modell. now, last night, before the ravens first kick off and national anthem everyone took a moment to pay tribute to modell. the stadium fell silence. we saw the loss on ray lewis face and his eyes tell the story. he saw modell as a father figure. modell is best remembered for contributions to the national football league and the owner of the cleveland browns from 1961 and 1995 and ravens from 1996 to 2003. he helped launch monday night football and was also known for his charitable work. modell is survived by his sons and six grandchildren. that funeral begins this morning at 11:00 followed by a private luncheon. we are told that the modell family is actually asking that folks gave contribution to the seed school in lieu of flowers. reporting live, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >> we have a special section
