are searching for a gunman that fired shots at san francisco police just hours ago. erything started at an early morning traffic stop. ktvu alex savidge is in san francisco. you've been on this since 4:30 this morning. what do you know alex? >> that car refused to pull over for san francisco police this morning. and someone inside actually fired shots. at least one shot in the direction of officers. no one was hit though. after the shooting the car sped off and eventually blew through this red light at franklin and eddy and collided with a taxi cab coming the other direction. the white cadillac going close to 50 miles an hour as the two men inside ran from officers. the cab driver who was hit suffered only minor injuries. the two men inside that car they got out and ran off. police eventually moved in and they were able 20 arrest the passenger but the driver escaped and still on the loose at this point. san francisco police are are telling me this began about 2:00 this morning when officers tried to make a traffic stop for a light that was out on the license plate of

san francisco police say this all started at 1:30 a.m. an undercover officer was shot at multiple times from a moving car. pd says the car had three suspects inside. the officer chased them to the 2500 block here of bryant street. that's when the three suspects jumped out of the car and ran away. the officers did catch up with one suspect and then police at the time set up a perimeter to try and find the other two. now, when ee got here about 10 minutes after we arrived, they were able to take down the crime tape. we watched officers search that suspect or the suspects' vehicle and tow it away. we know now this is an ongoing investigation and hope to have more information throughout the morning. live in san francisco, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >>> new this morning, police in oakland are trying to find three home invasion robbery suspects overnight on coral road. police say the suspects were armed. so far authorities are not saying what was stolen. >>> the giants beat the tigers last night 8-3. what a night in game one. a little luck including

policing. this is a partial list of some of the things we do. we partner with san francisco safe, where we educate everyone on for crime prevention. we had a baseball program with two sergeants in the central volunteer time to coach. the police fishing program, a lot of our officers have participated in that in the summertime, where we take you out into the bay. there are about 1500 inner-city youths who participate in this fishing program. the police advisory board, members from the district, we meet once a month and discuss crime issues. they keep me up to date on what is going on in the district and we have a monthly community meeting at telegraph hill and a program which is prime convention through -- pride -- crime prevention through environmental design. the officer will delay security survey and as a checklist and has a pamphlet on how to prevent burglaries. that is a piece of service we like to provide. there is the step program which started right here. the principal felt many kids didn't trust the police. they did not want to talk to them, so we have an officer tal
