i absolutely agree with norman ornstein. i think that the filibuster's been massively abused since at least 2000. and it's childish on city nance, this do anything to stop mr. blacky black man is old, and i think the american people are tired of it. guest: let me note one thing that one of the hesitations that some democrats have now is the house is in the hands of the republicans, so if your goal here so get legislation through, they are not going to eliminate the filibuster, they are just going to put the pressure on the republicans. this may help you get bills through the senate but it isn't going to homestretch you in the house. and if they do it by the way they wanted called the nuclear option instead of doing it normal practice, that can be filibustered and requires 2/3 of those present voting. if you do it that way, the republicans have indicated that will go to defcon one and block all action in the senate and that it's unprecedented and won't happen. so you've got to be careful about what the cost and benefits are.
