daryl scott's daughter rachel died that day. his son craigdaryl scott now works to prevent school violence and he joins us now from denver. thank you so much for joining us, a different good morning. >> you're welcome. thank you. >> it is nearly impossible for anybody to even comprehend what you've gone through, but the people here are going through it now, and i wonder in retrospect looking back what you would tell them how does it get better? >> you know they don't need the advice of someone other than their family and friends, but they really need their family and friends right now. they're going to go through several stages beginning with shock and disbelief and a certain amount of anger. you know, there's just a whole gambit of emotions. but what they need the most is just family and friends right now now. >> it's something you never get over but does it get better with time? >> it does get easier with time. there's still days. if anyone's lost a child, they know you never completely heal from that. but those initial months in the first

her daughter rachel joy scott died in the columbine shooting. her son craig that tragedy and managed to survivor. good morning their, beth. i know the columbine shooting was 13 years ago but i imagine this brings up a whole lot of emotions for your family. >> oh, it did. yesterday was like reliving april 20th, 99 all over again. so much pain with you my first reaction was i was angry. i was very angry that this would happen again, especially to little children, little babies. and just angry that that someone would take out their frustration and their anger and their pain on someone so innocent. >> and you would think that we would have learned the signs by now to look out for in troubled young men and women and sadly at least it appears that that is not the case. >> i heard the family of another columbine family say this just yesterday. that was that the really difficult phase actually begins for those families right now. could you talk to us a little bit about that? >> sure. it's so unreal what they are experiencing now is so unreal. it's like being hit by a

beth lost daughter rachel joy scott in the columbine shooting in colorado and her son craig witnessedd. she joins us this morning from denver. good morning to you, beth. >> good morning. >> you know, it's hard for us looking into imagine what those parents are going through. you know, we just heard from our correspondent they have apparently set up a makeshift morgue and now the parents are starting to identify their children by pictures. you went through this a number of years ago. >> >> i did. >> what are they going through? that time of waiting there is mixed feelings. you have some hope. and yet, there is this impending doom that because you haven't heard from your child or there is no news about them that the worst is to be expected and for us it took exactly 24 hours for when rachel passed away to get a call from the coroner. we didn't identify her. they identified her through some fingerprints that i had made up as my kids were little. and she was identified that way. >> just the waiting, you say that it took you 24 hours. they know, you know, all the other parents were reunite
