should the kitchen remodel be reassessed? you might get that tax bill, but if i were you would consider what that meant. i do not know. >> next year we should have the tax assessor reporter's office here to answer those questions. >> that is a tricky thing. i read the fine print and it says similar quality materials, so i do not know exactly what that means. >> along the same lines, the next section are repair and maintenance base say are assessible, but under state law you can file a claim exempting this. >> i did not know this. >> these are possible exemptions. i had not heard this either. disability improvements -- they will assess it unless you file. disability improvements, seismic retrofitting of an existing building has an assessment exclusion. fire escapes and so on. this is very interesting. i think we do need to get someone from the assessor's office one of these days. >> it is unfortunate you are going to be assessed or punished for putting in new york electrical and plumbing in some instances. >> i think replacing

josh talked about how most rooms - no rooms have kitchens. some sros have a kitchen somewhere in the building or on the floor. there's a lot of problems with that. listen less than half of sro residents have access to kitchens. with 18% of respondents, 1 in 5 people say that they skip meals due to lack of resources or facilities. accommodation problems. they don't have money to buy food and no place to prepare affordable meals. we would like to see some work there. would also want more targeted outreach to seniors and adults with people with disabilities. there are other sros available that they will know about. also access the supporting services. and increase disaster planning for seniors and adults with disabilities. we had a set of long-term goals, but i won't go into much detail. here is what we think that we need something to make sure that seniors and people with disabilities and sros have what they need but are less clear on how to implement. those include the ability to form a tenant council, not attended by management so that people

it could be a kitchen or something like that. there really needs to be lounge area. at ucsf where i spend a lot of time, they have wonderful lounge areas. people are living in dorm rooms, but they have all kinds of open common space that they can go to, even if there can't be exterior space, there certainly can be interior common area. i want to say, too, this is not really a radical experiment at all. the single marketplace was where people lived in san francisco. people i lived with, people who are my friends, my brother and others, people whom i know even now still live in those. apparently what happened in the '70s was when the mental hospitals closed and people moved into those hotels and changed the atmosphere of them, they began to be thought of as an inferior form of housing for poor people. this is the place that people whom i knew who were single lived. and either they were places that had food downstairs like a residence club or they ate out in restaurants. and the size, i don't see being really -- the friends in my building, we had several where i lived i
