for less than going to say just going forward is on the future of afghanistan, i could not agree more with what anand was thing about the money issue in afghanistan. i wrote a paper published here by new america called russian roulette, and i forget the subtitle, that runs through and as a comparison of the last days of the russian occupation in afghanistan in the late '80s with where we are today. frankly, i don't think from a sustainability of the afghan government standpoint we have done much better. and that's pretty depressing but i think that's the case. and we may have been worse. i think that a lot of ways you can make a strong argument that he was a more dynamic and creatively within hybrid car site. so the last thing though is where do we go going forward. and i think especially in the process. we had a strategy of very effective tactics, meaning the drone strikes. those aren't going to defeat the taliban and they're not going to fundamentally defeat al qaeda, in my view. i think they will suppress the taliban and al qaeda. and i think it's possible that al qaeda, in particu
