i have really just had the pleasure of meeting ms. davis in the last few years. i can remember when i first saw her on tv and thought, here is a woman filled with dignity and compassion, so articulate, and she really helped us to understand what was happening in the world. you know, most of you know that ms. davis was the first black female journalist in the west. and she really did change the face and focus of news. she has recently written a book that is very important, both for her but for us, because it really tells the story of her life and all that has gone on in the world she has lived in. my angelo was quoted as saying "no people can say they understand the times in which they have lived unless they have read this book." the name of that book is "never in my wildest dreams." belva davis.
