so where we are right now we have a draft policy that we have used having it together from the presentations made at the present commission, from a doctor, a particular doctor that said if you have these things then at least you have to do x, so his recommendations are in the policy. we took it from the other policies that we believe were the most restrictive on the officers to use. that policy is posted on-line. under the police commission website under documents. available to the public to see whenever they would like and then we have our first, i believe our first meeting of the public will be on january ninth, the details of where are still being worked out. and then there would be two subsequent meetings after those three meetings, we would go back and i would anticipate and have a lengthy debate in front of the police commission at which point in time they would make the decision, the commission that, as to whether or not as proposed these singular crisis trained these five percent of the police department would be afforded one more legislate lethal tool in the toolbox to deal with tho

using the tasers? are there more or every officer has a taser in most jurisdictions? >> i would have to take a closer look at that. but i believe in many jurisdictions that it is across the board use. i don't think that you see too many jurisdictions in which you have a cit officer, for example as is proposed here or one of the proposals here. and so, i think that we see the risk if this is introduced as a pilot program and we see that once that this becomes institutionalized that we do run the risk of this becoming a department-wide phenomena and since the department has shown itself to be some what flow, for example, in instituting cit we really have questions about if and when that taser, that the tasers are kind of spread to the rest of department, is the department able to keep up with the necessary training, monitoring, you know, both on the front and the back end that is needed to keep this or to have a safe taser use policy. we have big questions about whether or not they will be able to keep up with that. >> okay. >> do you have anything else to add? >> i think that i have s

i would suggest that it is just, again for me the impact that the officer having to use deadly force has on an officer, it is obvious the injury to the person but impact psychologically to the officer is tremendous. i have heard on my watch, if we never have to shoot anybody, with a firearm that works for me. so, we had to do that, i was there that day, at the chocolate factory. and i know the officer well and it breaks my heart for the family of the man that was in crisis, and for the officer. and so i just felt ta my duty to bring it forward and let the public be heard. and have the commission vote it up or down on behalf of the department. >> thank you. supervisor mar? >> i know that people are passionate about the patient and i want to make sure that we are reframing from clapping and show the support that way, just to make sure that we have. >> i will be try to be brief because i know that there are a lot of people from the community who want to speak. >> i see commissioner ali and korea for being back here. i know that the police commission is the ultimate decision maker and the

unfortunately for many of us who are members of the lgbt community is a process that many of us have had to go through and many of us are going through. the one good thing happening is that the process of coming to terms of who you are is becoming easier for a lot of people it is quite gratifying for me to see so many young people for homecoming out is a member of the lgbt community is no longer seen as a big deal. the fact remains that there are numerous airports in this country and in the world but in fact are named after individuals. there are in fact more than 80 airports in this country alone that have been named after individuals. it includes all whole range of people; includes presidents, aviators, military heroes, entertainers, people ranging from ronald reagan to arnold palmer, trent lott,

[applause] >> thank you, the district has not properly considered the prop 39 and the facilities. i do not think that the district has analyzed how co-locating a middle school impacts the facility requirement. i know of no other k-8 school with a k-8 ratio that will occur with this co-location. nor do i believe that the yard space is sufficient on a per student basis to support a co-location on prop 39. i think that the administration needs to go back and look the numbers because i don't think it meets the numbers

it is an intuitive feeling that they have that most of us don't. we think about this issue a lot because when you are working with people with disabilities and people with different kinds of stresses, you have to adjust your thinking to who you're talking to and who you are working with. or work is shaped by to beliefs. the first is that we had no reason to talk about this ability with technology. disabilities' exist because of the -- i don't ask the client what their disability is because it is irrelevant. what do you want to deal on a computer? the print is too small, we can fix that. the mouse or the keyboard is too difficult, try this. try speech input, we will try different things to get the technology to work. the technology is what creates a disability. the other believe that we have is that it is important to step back from what we know at listen to our clients. has to stop putting our beliefs on them. we have to look at where people are coming from with technology. and figure out what the issues are that they are having. the big question th

for the gun rights that our founding fathers have conferred upon us. we have ideas on how we can take responsibility. first, fix gun background checks. the holes in our laws make a mockery of the background check system. congress should close the private sales loophole and get dangerous people entered into that statement. second, remove the limitations on collecting data and conducting scientist research own gun violence. enact a tough federal gun trafficking statute. this is really important. and finally, let's have a careful and civil conversation about the lethality of firearms we permit to be legally bought and sold in this country. gabby and i are pro gun ownership and anti-gun violence. we believe in this debate, congress should look not towards special interests and ideology, which push us apart, but towards compromise, which brings us together. we believe whether you call yourself pro gun or anti-gun violence or both, that you can work together to pass laws that save lives. >> thank you. >> next witness david koppel the research director for the
