right now a light snow is falling on parts of the washington area, but a big change on the way for tomorrow. let's check in with erica grow in the weather center for details. >> we had light snow showers in basically the entire d.c. metro area at some point during the day. taking a look at radar now. it's a much calmer scene for most of the metro, but that cold front that's delivering some snow showers to the delmarva, it's still slowly but surely moving through. on the back side of this storm system some snow flurries approaching the appalachians. but in the beltway we are clear and that's how it will remain overnight save for a few flurries now and again. it's 32 degrees right now in leesburg. 30 in manassas. 27 degrees in hagerstown. 34 in downtown washington. so as you wake up tomorrow morning, it will be blustery. we'll see flurries. 23 to 28 degrees. wind chills will remain in the 20s all day long. and as we head toward the noontime hour, it's going to be in the 30s, but it's still going to be breezy and cold. looks like the chance for flurries diminishes as we head into the afternoon. sunshine comes back. when

erica, how can family members begin to recognize that there's either a substance use or a mental health issues of concern within the family? i think that most importantly that you notice behavior changes. maybe their routine has changed or the people that they are spending time with is different. start noticing that, you know, things aren't the same as they were. maybe as a parent, they are not getting up with their children in the morning and making breakfast and getting them ready for school and putting them on the bus like they used to. and, you know, when things start to look different, that's when that could be a red flag. and fran, how important is it to prevention strategies to recognize the early signs? very important. the earlier we can identify there's a problem in a family and then be able to start, begin to address it-and we'll talk later about the skills of being able to do that- we can prevent so many problems from happening and we can get somebody into treatment if they need it faster. we know that for young people, if we're able to postpone their use of alcohol and drugs they have a much better life ahead of them. mental health disorders can be diagnosed as early as 14

erica has been showing us her mac and cheese, beef burgundy, so good, by the way. now soup. >> let's go 3-3. we're making cauliflower soup. you may think blech. no. >> change're tight on time. i throw in the pot, we have leeks, shallots and a little olive oil. i like leeks and shallots because it gives it more robust flavor, richer than onions. get those until they're translucent. soft but not brown. dump in a head of cauliflower. stir this around. cook it for a couple of minutes. after that, you're going to power in -- use chicken stock or vegetable stock. i make it with vegetable stock for my friend mary murphy who doesn't eat anything -- >> whole thing? >> yes. dump it in. throw in bay leaves -- >> could you use something other than cauliflower? >> you could. this works well with asparagus. you'll want to adjust the amount -- throw in the bay leaves. you'll want to adjust the amount of liquid because asparagus has so much liquid in it naturally. if you want a creamier soup, use less liquid. simmer for 20 minutes. and then the very important job which jenna has today, if you have an immersion blender, you can do this in the pot. there you go. and when it
