current air temperatures, 29 d.c. 28 baltimore. 27 manassas. 29 fredricksburg and 23 to the west. as far as the precipitation is concerned, not a lot happened today. a few flurries primarily to the north of us. other than that, just clouds but we start to see clearing conditions into the course of tonight because a ridge of high pressure will be in control and that will hold this for president's day tomorrow. we have plenty of sunshine if you are doing anything for the holiday it will be cool. dress warm. we will not have the gusty winds i'm happy to say. changes kick in when we get to tuesday. we have the frontal system to the west. that will move toward us and tuesday morning expect for your morning commute and the early morning hours to deal with freezing rain or sleet and then we will get a warmer influx of air and that will change all that primarily to rain into the course of the day on tuesday. behind it all we get a clear condition as we move through into wednesday. then we have another system that will bring us precipitation into the thursday friday period. here is futurec

culpepper 36, and fredricksburg 35. winter town, i want you to see is sitting at 32 degrees. that's the only temperature that far south i see that's right around freezing. don't think the temperatures will fall off much more, if any, overnight tonight. it looks like pretty much where they are now is where they're going to stay. winter weather advisory has been posted though and pushed farther to the south into the metro area. this will go until 6:00. the counties north and west of us will go until 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. the threat here is potentially a little bit of freezing rain, a little bit of freezing drizzle in spots, and especially where that temperature is below 32 degrees. that's where there could be a problem. but it doesn't look like we're expecting much in the way of precipitation overnight tonight. there's still a lot of rain down to the south. there's some showers coming up into north carolina, southwestern virginia. they may try and push up into the area, and that's probably why that winter weather advisory was posted a little bit farther down to the south

same in baltimore. 35 to the south in fredricksburg. 30 winchester and 30 at dulles.when we take a look at what we are speaking about, the jet stream to the south and fast moving clippers pushing their way through. one more to deal with before it's said and done. the cold air mass is staying in place and not going far. a ridge of high pressure is in control as we head through tomorrow. we will start out with partly sunny skies. on the breezy side. i'm talking windchills as well. then the next clipper moves through as we move into the later part of monday. we are looking at a little bit more light snow. the models are saying it will be out of here by the time we hit dawn on tuesday. let's hope that does happen and doesn't stick around. we will have a look at futurecast and show what you this particular computer model is showing. by the time you get into the 8:00 hour monday, a little to the north. the west will see some. they will see heavier amounts of snowfall over the mountains. then as we move through to the overnight hours, just a little bit here. we are on the ed

and it's in mid-40s in fredricksburg and farther west. but the northern part of the shenandoah valley. it's farther west of there that they're beginning to see some snow showing up there in the ohio valley into western northern kentucky and southern ohio. that is coming our way out of southern indiana as well. and a few wet snow flakes showing the view up to our west. but closer to washington across northern shenandoah valley getting a few scattered light sprinkles of rain there now nap is advancing into the north and northe northern. it's that cloud that's produced the mammatus look to the sky. now as we look at the afternoon, here is the time line. does look like we'll hit the mid-40s around 1:00, 2:00. some of the rain will be steadier around 3:00, 4:00. then changing into snow until 8:00 or 9:00 or so before we'll see that changeover right in washington. but farther north and west it'll probably happen sooner. here is the timeline here looking at the wide view. the areas in lavender, potential noefl. not close to washington until 9:00

a fredricksburg man and his wife were likely smiling through their 80-mile commute to work this morning. >> just a few more trips and then they will never have to do it again. dave honeywell has cashed in his winning powerball ticket for $217 million. it was a $217 million check. he purchased the ticket at richmond international airport on super bowl sunday before leaving for a business trip. it was a tense flight back home after he realized he had the winning numbers. >> in minneapolis, i actually found this wallet that you put on your arm. i've used it before for traveling overseas, so i put it inside my long sleeves or whatever, put the ticket in there, but i kept checking it on the way home. it's, like, okay, it's gotta be there. >> dave and his wife are federal workers and he says he'll retire in about a month and a half after he wraps up that project he's working on. and she plans to retire in the next two weeks. then the plan is to build a nice big retirement house. >> so he held onto the ticket for days while he was at work? >> right. >> in colorado, remember? >> he wasn't home.
