for example elizabeth dole received much less coverage than bush. she received less than john mccain and steve forbes who were behind her in the polling. sara palin did receive a lot of coverage. but less positive coverage and more image coverage. speaking primarily about clinton and palin and richard talked about this is that one of the things that was disheartening about that race, not only did they get negative coverage on their image but they were highly sex liesed in that campaign. hillary clinton was described as overachieving and scary. and sara palin was described as a sex object. study of palin's coverage when she ran for vice president found that she was often covered in feminine straits and issues even though in her speeches and tv ads she talked about masculine issues. i'm in the midst of a study of coverage of her male opponents and she received less coverage. she was mentioned in 56% of the stories we analyzed. 56 mentioned but when you looked at quoted stories she was quoted in only 19% and the focus of only 5%. the slant was neutral
